On the inside too, the Chevrolet Colorado maintains its tough appeal as it gets wide and bulky looking panels which make you feel that you are seated in a very premium SUV. As expected, this lifestyle pickup with sporty intentions does get an all-black cabin with a soft-touch leather finish on the upper layer of the dashboard. However, there are hard plastics at some places, which do reduce the cabin’s overall plushness by a small margin.

The T-themed multi-functional steering wheel, as well as simple but comprehensive looking analog themed instrument console, is carried forward from the previous iteration. However, what is new here in the cabin is the center console design, which looks broad and heavy with its large and vertically laid AC vents with silver touches and a small touchscreen infotainment system along with an array of buttons for it placed in the middle of them.

Just below this entire housing sits a small panel for the automatic climate control buttons. The panel for the transmission lever is finished in piano black theme, thus adding some premium touch to the cabin.

The Chevrolet Colorado scores full marks when it comes to exterior design and stance. While it might not look too contemporary and glitzy as compared to some of the modern-day SUVs, its intimidating design and tall stance surely make up for it.

At the front, the Chevrolet Colorado carries an aggressive-looking fascia, which comprises of a very large and wide two slat grille, with both the partitions shaped in the form of the trapezium and getting chrome surrounds for them.

The upper half edge of the grille gets big angular headlamps, which sadly look a bit basic as they miss out on the projector or LED for the main headlamp. However, here the lower and outer corners of the headlamps do get ornamented by L-shaped daytime running LEDs. The front bumper gets big rounded housings for the fog lamps which are positioned much lower here.

From the side, the Chevrolet Colorado looks simple, but the high ground clearance and large door panels add to the overall muscular appeal of the pickup. The slightly flared rounded wheel arches over the large alloy wheels and the smooth flowing window waistline give it a very simple looking design.

At the back too, the Chevrolet Colorado maintains its simplicity with a clean looking boot lid with vertically laid tail lamps on the side edges of it.

The Chevrolet Colorado has got tough underpinnings for making it conquerable over all kinds of terrains, and the 4x4 variants are worth choosing for that job. The independent double-wishbone setup at the front and a live axle at the rear are sturdy enough but do not impart much comfortable ride quality over the smoother tarmac.

The Chevrolet Colorado has been given two diesel engine options, both of which can be had with either a 4x2 or a 4x4 drivetrain. The smaller 2.5-litre four-cylinder oil burner makes 165 PS of power and 380 Nm, while the bigger 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 200 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque, the latter of which makes Colorado the most powerful pickup truck in its category. A 6-speed manual gearbox is common to both the engine options, whereas a 6-speed automatic gearbox is optional in the bigger diesel engine variants.

The Chevrolet Colorado covers up a majority of the basics when it comes to safety. With features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, rear camera, electronic stability control, traction control, lane departure warning, tire pressure monitoring system and hill start assist.

The Chevrolet Colorado scores high when it comes to the factor of style and stance, but then, it loses out a few precious brownie points due to its lack of many modern-day features which are available in the rivals. The bigger diesel engine is the one to put your money on for its sheer amount of torque and better tractability.
