Ferrari SF90 Spider

The cabin of the Ferrari SF90 Spider is also identical to that of the SF90 Stradale. There is a fine balance between minimalism and futuristic appeal, which makes the cabin of the Ferrari SF90 Spider very desirable.

The Ferrari SF90 Spider gets a driver-centric design with a futuristic-looking driver’s cockpit and a minimal-looking centre console. There is an all-new multi-functional steering wheel with a touchpad, which has haptic buttons for controlling several in-car functions. There are additional touchpads on either side of the steering wheel on the dashboard, which have various other functions integrated into them, like controls for lights and air conditioning. The 16-inch full-TFT instrument console with its curved display looks fancy and is very informative too.

The minimal-looking centre console has a separate auxiliary small screen for readouts of various information for the co-passenger, along with a touchpad for climate control and a small array of buttons for other functions. The slim transmission tunnel between the nicely crafted sports seats houses a cup holder, toggle-like transmission lever, and power window switches.

As the name goes, the Ferrari SF Spider is the convertible version of the SF90 Stradale. Going with the tradition of Ferraris, the Ferrari SF90 Spider retains the original design of the SF90 Stradale but gets the exclusivity of an open-top convertible over the latter.

The Ferrari SF90 Spider gets a sleek-looking front end, which has a long bonnet with a large V-shaped cavity within it for enhancing aerodynamics at higher speeds. There are further cavities in the lower parts of the C-shaped headlamps of the car, which have an all-LED arrangement. The sportiness of the Ferrari SF90 Spider is further enhanced by the large front splitter on the front bumper, which also allows air dissipation at higher speeds. The front bumper is further assisted with a carbon fiber diffuser below it.

The major point of distinction between the SF90 Spider and SF90 Stradale is evident when you view them from the sides. The Ferrari SF90 Spider gets a hard-top openable roof, which like in the Stradale, is finished in black. The curved front and rear fenders, along with the low slung profile of the car with a lowered roof and ground clearance make it look beautifully planted. The rear fenders flow over the rear windscreen, which gives it a splitting effect. The nice-looking air vents behind the door panels get carbon fiber surrounds.

At the back, there are no visual differences between the Ferrari SF90 Spider and the SF90 Stradale. The SF90 Spider also gets quad-LED tail lamps with two rounded square LED tail lamps on both sides. The rear bumper looks incredibly sporty with high-mounted dual rounded exhaust ports, a huge rear diffuser, and a splitter at the bottom.

The Ferrari SF90 Spider is equipped with four drive modes and an array of suspension and chassis settings, which fine-tune the driving experience of the supercar. The lowered stance and seating position give the Ferrari SF90 Spider a very focused drive setup. However, the suspension is too stiff for driving on normal roads, and while it can be driven on them, the Ferrari SF90 Spider is best enjoyable on tracks.

As it is very obvious, the Ferrari SF90 Spider shares its 4.0-litre 90-degree twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which is assisted with three electric motors (one at the rear and two at the front) and a 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery. While the V8 engine delivers 780 bhp of maximum power output, the motors deliver 220 bhp of power. In the combined form, the maximum power and torque outputs of the powertrain are 1000 bhp and 800 Nm respectively. The Ferrari SF90 Spider also offers an electric-only range of 25 km.

The decently long list of safety features in the Ferrari SF90 Spider comprises dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic differential control (E-Diff), rear parking sensors, Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, side slip control 6.0, and F1-Trac adjustable traction control.

The added weight of the retractable roof brings in a very minute difference in the overall performance and power-to-weight ratio, which is hard to find in the real world. However, the added charisma of open-top motoring of the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer adds even more drama and desirability to the SF90 name.
