Ford Everest Overview
Ford PH launched the 2020 version of the Everest late in the third quarter of 2019. It’s easily one of the more popular midsize SUVs in the market today, though nothing major has been updated to the fit, finish and features for the most recent model year. However, the introduction of a Bi-Turbo diesel powertrain trim marks a huge addition to the lineup.

Ford Everest Interior
Ford went the extra mile to make sure the Everest cabin is as serene as can be with an Active Noise Cancellation system that uses highly sensitive microphones to cancel out engine noise with opposing sound waves. Other comfort-inducing features inside the 2020 Everest include dual-zone automatic climate control, rear AC with control switch, auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient lighting, and 12-volt and 230-volt power outlets. As for the infotainment system, an 8-inch multi-touch screen powered by Ford's Sync 3 offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and links to nine speakers, completes with subwoofer and amplifier.

Ford Everest Exterior
The 2020 Ford Everest still falls under the vehicle's third generation, so the updates to the appearance are relatively mild. In fact, the only thing that's changed between the 2019 and 2020 model is a minor retooling of the grille and front bumper. Launched in 2015, the third generation of the Everest is now on its fifth year, and yet the beefy, composed look of the Everest still manages to remain look relevant. The 2020 Everest exterior comes equipped with HID headlamps with auto-leveling and auto on/off, LED taillights, rain-sensing wipers, running boards, panoramic moonroof, and hands-free tailgate. Paint options include Diffused Silver, Meteor Grey, Sunset Red, Arctic White, Absolute Black, and Aluminum Metallic.
The latest Everest measures 4893 mm x 1862 mm x 1836 mm, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. A set of 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels arm the Everest with 225 mm of ground clearance and 800 mm water-wading depth, which should be more than enough to traverse the Metro’s flooded streets come rainy season.

Ford Everest Ride & Handling
Suspension for the Everest comes by way of a double-wishbone with coil spring and anti-roll bar at the front and coil spring with Watt’s Link and anti-roll bar at the rear. This packaging is one of the primary reasons the Everest delivers sharp and responsive steering without any excessive corner body roll. With ruggedness as its main strength, the Everest makes rough gravel a cinch to travel on. And although it’s primarily tweaked for off-road performance, the Everest boasts impressive on-road prowess as well. Just make sure you don’t overwork the engine when towing or hauling a heavy load, as it tends to over-consume fuel when you do.

Ford Everest Engine & Fuel Consumption
Ford trimmed down the Everest line-up from a total of six different trims to just two for 2020, with the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo Titanium+ 4x4 AT (PHP 2,299,000), 2.0-liter Turbo Titanium 4x2 AT (PHP 1,995,000 listed as the only available trims. The 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo is good for 210 hp and 500 Nm, while the 2.0-liter Turbo can do 178 hp and 420 Nm. The 3.2-liter engine has been dropped off the previous year, and the six-speed automatic transmission has been swapped with a 10-speed auto gearbox with Select-Shift. The 2.2L Trend 4x2 AT (PHP 1,738,000), a carryover from the outgoing model, remains available.
-
Ford Everest Braking & Safety
Although not mainly considered as a safety feature, the new Sport Mode installed in the transmission system allows for a more responsive driving experience, which helps improve safety to a degree. Apart from this addition, some fresh safety tech is now in the Everest, most notably in the Titanium+ variant which now comes with autonomous emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with forward collision lane-keeping assist, driver alert, auto high beam control, blind-spot monitoring, and active park assist. A push start system has also been introduced and is available in both trims.

Ford Everest Verdict
With everything in the store in the 2020 Ford Everest, this midsize SUV offering from the Blue Oval is easily one of your better choices if you're in the market for a seven-seater midsize SUV. True, it’s a little bit pricier than most, but from its ruggedly stylish exterior to its well-built cabin and on to its hi-tech features, this latest Everest can cruise you on any type of terrain in style.
