Ford F 150 Overview
Ford is adding their mammoth pickup to their local lineup. Ford Philippines’ range of pickups has met large success over the past years, particularly with the Ford Ranger. This year, they’re bringing their behemoth F-150 truck to the local market. Full-sized pickup trucks are still a rarity here in the country. The last full-sized pickup truck in the local market was launched back in 1998, so the introduction of the F-150 is definitely a game-changer. This is the 13th generation model and will come in two variants: the Lariat and the Platinum. Both are powered by a whopping 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford F 150 Interior
In contrast to its tough exterior, the inside of the F-150 features soft-touch materials that are standard in most Ford trucks. However, the design still features strong lines with subtle accent stitching. The tiller, dashboard, center console, and side panels are all wrapped in leather. The premium Platinum trim also includes black ash wood accents around the cabin as well as metallic door-sill inserts. The 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system is positioned above the dual-zone automatic climate controls. Seating capacity is for five adults with a generous amount of legroom and shoulder room. Ford has also included 110-volt power outlets for both front and rear passengers plus 12-volt sockets for the cabin. All seats are also wrapped in leather while the front seats are 10-way power-adjustable. The Platinum trim offers an additional massage function as well as a heating ventilation system for front seats. All drivers seats have memory function as standard.

Ford F 150 Exterior
The F-150 measures 5,890mm long, 2,029mm wide, and 1,961 mm tall. For the 4x2 variant, the height is a little shaved off coming in at only 1,920mm. However, these dimensions are definitely bigger than any other Ford pickup. Its large physique makes the vehicle look imposing and gives it a similar aura to that of the Ford Ranger Raptor. A massive grille can be found on the front which is flanked by large LED headlamps. For the Lariat trim, the grille has a body-colored finish while the Platinum has a silver satin finish. The vehicle sits on 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 275/55 R20 all-season tires. The higher variant, Platinum, get some more grey accents as well as chrome trims on the sides and aluminum alloys with all-terrain rubber. The Lariat is polished with only dark alloy. Ford has also included motorized step boards that deploy whenever a door is opened. At the rear, the tailgate can be opened using an electronic release button or by using the key fob. A stepper is also available for the tailgate with a grab handle for easy setup. The bed is approximately 1,500-litre in volume and is lined with Ford’s standard drop-in liner.

Ford F 150 Ride & Handling
This almost 6-meter long vehicle can be a bit challenging for some. For one, it’s a bit on the heavier side and is definitely heavier than your average Ford pickup. The vehicle also needs ample space in order to maneuver and park. However, the F-150 is packed with a lot of power despite its size. Its power and torque output are more than enough to outrun most cars on a highway. Shifting to different gears is smooth but the transmission is definitely leaning more towards strength than sporty driving. But for a pickup, the F-150 rides comfortably even when encountering potholes and bumps. NVH insulation is also excellent meaning sound deadening is effective.

Ford F 150 Verdict
The introduction of the F-150 into the lineup is definitely a bold move from Ford. This is a vehicle that not only turns heads but demands for your attention. However, it might not be the most comfortable ride for everyone because of its heavy chassis. Other factors to consider is also its low fuel efficiency. But if you’re looking for a powerful and versatile vehicle, the F-150 might be a perfect choice. The Lariat variant is priced at P2,698,000 while the Platinum trim is offered at P2,998,000.
