GAC GA4

The cabin of the GAC GA4 might surprise you for a car of this segment, as it has a premium and wide looking dashboard which is made up of top-notch materials. The all-black cabin of the GAC GA4 gets soft-touch dashboard, with subtle use of brushed aluminium and piano black inserts at places, such as around the AC vents, infotainment system and instrument console.

Speaking of the instrument console, the butterfly-themed display looks neat and wide, with a colored MID completing the unit. The asymmetric theme for the center console of the dashboard gets a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AC vents on its either sides, and sleek panels for audio controls and air conditioner stacked one over the other.

The center tunnel of the GAC GA4, which houses the transmission tunnel, also looks quite premium with abundant use of piano black finish around the gear lever making it look quite rich.

For an entry-level compact sedan, the GAC GA4 appears quite big and long, giving a sense of a premium car. The lengthened stance of the GAC GA4 makes it look big and appear quite big. Also, even if it is positioned as an entry-level sedan, it doesn’t look like a compromise on the front of styling, as it manages to look contemporary.

At the front, the GAC GA4 looks quite sleek and modern with the presence of a bold trapezoidal grille, which has small vertically tapering upper edges as well as three thick chrome slats. The headlamps of the GAC GA4 look quite bold and large and do incorporate the must-haves of the modern lighting technology – an LED projector headlamp and a sleek daytime running LED below it. The triangular fog lamps are placed in a vertical manner on the corners of the front bumper.

The side profile of the GAC GA4 too looks quite bold with a pinch of elegance, as the long-wheelbase is well-matched with a coupe-like sloping roofline and a sharp character line flowing through the length of the shoulder line. The car is blessed with thick machined alloy wheels which match with the personality of the sedan.

At the back, the GAC GA4 manages to look quite cool with wide boomerang-shaped tail lamps with LED inserts and a clean boot lid design, the latter of which also gets an integrated boot spoiler. A shark fin antenna, as well as a sleek chrome line garnish at the bottom of the rear bumper, completes the rear profile of the car.

Engineered with the intent of being an urban-friendly sedan, the GAC GA4 offers a very plush ride quality, with the sedan getting an independent suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear. The steering is definitely on the lighter side, and may not be too confidence-inspiring at higher speeds.

There are two powertrain options being made available for the GAC GA4. First is a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard and produces maximum power and torque outputs of 137 PS and 202 Nm respectively. Then there is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is available with both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox options and makes 114 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque.

The GAC GA4 has been bestowed with a decent safety equipment list, which consists of a dual front airbag setup, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability program, reverse parking sensors and reverse camera.

With a balanced focus of practicality and sophistication, the GAC GA4 makes up for a perfect entry-level sedan which feels quite premium for the price at which it is being offered.
