Haima 2

The interior cabin of the Haima 2 looks pretty basic by today’s standards, and even for a small city car, the cabin has a dated and very basic layout.

The three-spoke steering wheel looks drab, however, thanks to buttons for audio and Bluetooth on it, it manages to appear decent. The pod-like instrument console gets four different rounded housings with analog dials for each data, and look very old school. The center console of the dashboard has a very simple design to it, with rounded AC vents and a simple 2-DIN audio system complete with Bluetooth compatibility.

The space levels on the inside of the Haima 2 are pretty decent for ample seating for four passengers with ease. The legroom and knee room are pretty decent for a small city-oriented hatchback.

The Haima 2 has been infamously regarded for its close resemblance to the Mazda 2’s previous iteration, which is somewhat true if you go by its overall design. The rounded styling theme, however, does make it look cutesy and easy to the eye.

At the front, the Haima 2 welcomes you with its rounded fascia, which consists of tapering down small front grille with a rounded upper edge. The sweptback headlamps, with their rounded design, enhance its chic appeal. However, what adds a bit of heavy visual drama is the tough-looking body cladding as well as the small silver skid plate at the bottom of the front bumper. The rounded theme for the fog lamp housings as well as the central air dam on the bumper makes it look wide.

From the side, Haima 2 has a simple design, which has been tried to look eye-catching and robust with the side body molding running over the wheel arches as well as the bottom of the doors. There is a sharp character line that flows from the edge of the front wheel arch all the way till the edge of the tail lamp. The fender-mounted turn indicator and body-colored B-pillar somewhat make the side profile look a bit basic here.

At the back, one can easily sense the heavy influence from the Mazda 2 with the way the tail lamps as well as boot lid design have been executed. The rounded theme for the tail lamps as well as the rear windshield, above the clean looking boot lid, rounds up its chic appeal.

The Haima 2 gets a simple suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, which perform their job aptly in absorbing odd bumps if any. The Haima 2 rides on 15-inch wheels, which given its small size, impart a pleasant ride and handling combination to the hatchback. 

The Haima 2 gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor under its hood, which sounds quite punchy on paper. Available with both 5-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic gearboxes, the engine manages to dish out a maximum power output of 105 PS and a peak torque output of 140 Nm.

The safety equipment list in the Haima 2 looks pretty basic, with just the bare basic essentials at the place, like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking sensors.

The Haima 2 might not appeal to those who are seeking the factors of novelty in a small city-oriented hatchback. However, for the performance, drive-ability, and space on offer, the Haima 2 comes out as a decent, if not desirable, offering.
