Jeep Renegade

The interior cabin of the Jeep Renegade has a slightly less funky approach as compared to the exterior design of the SUV. However, it still manages to have some amount of quirkiness to it, thus making it look a bit distinctive. The cabin is finished in an all-black theme, which looks sporty, but makes the already small cabin feel a bit more claustrophobic. 

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and the large squared 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system have been shared with the Jeep Compass. The instrument console looks cool with a large 7-inch TFT display tucked in between two simple-looking analog dials for speedometer and tachometer.

The flared design for the middle AC vents as well as dashboard design for the passenger side, with a grab handlebar above the glove box are nice and welcoming touches here in the cabin. The lower portion of the center console looks wide and houses buttons for automatic climate control.

The Jeep Renegade breaks the common design philosophy of other Jeep SUVs and introduces some quirkiness that has never been seen on any other Jeep vehicle to date. This funky design of the Renegade makes it look cool and distinctive while keeping many of the traditional virtues of Jeep intact.

At the front, the Jeep Renegade gets the traditional Jeep grille with seven vertical slats, with round projector headlamps sitting on either sides of the grille. This entire fascia of the grille with headlamps is encased in a black colored housing, which enhances its tough attitude.

What further makes it look rugged is the big front bumper, which has large chrome finished housings for the fog lamps, small turn indicators placed just above the fog lamps, and large air dams besides the inner edges of the fog lamps.

The Jeep Renegade has a squared look when viewed from the sides, with tapered pillars, heightened stance and front bonnet, tapered window line, and squared wheel arches. The door-mounted rearview mirrors, large roof rails, and body cladding flowing sideways as an extension of front body molding gives it a sporty attitude.

The rear profile of the Jeep Renegade too retains the squared look of the side, which is quite evident from the way the rear windshield as well as tail lamps with LED inserts are designed.

Among all the compact SUVs of its size sold in the market, the Jeep Renegade feels the toughest over broken roads and off-road terrains, thanks to its legendary Jeep lineage. The SUV misses out on a four-wheel-drive system but still feels capable to tackle bad roads with ease. However, the boxy styling and heightened stance do make way for a slight amount of body roll.

Jeep has made the Renegade available in the Philippines with just one petrol automatic powertrain. The 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, makes a maximum power output of 150 PS and a peak torque output of 230 Nm.

The Jeep Renegade is available with a range of safety equipment on board, starting from the front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, forward collision warning with active braking, front and rear park assist with sensors and camera, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system with cross path detection, lane keep assist and hill start assist.

Despite its compact size and glaring omission of four-wheel drive, the Jeep Renegade still manages to feel rugged and SUV-ish, thus fulfilling much of the attributes of a traditional Jeep vehicle.
