Maxus D60 Overview
The UV specialist from China, Maxus, has launched the all-new D60 premium midsize SUV with the intent of having its own share of the pie of success in the burgeoning segment of SUVs and crossovers in the Philippines car market. The Maxus D60 currently serves as the flagship SUV from the Chinese carmaker in the Philippines and has been made available in two different variants – Elite and Pro. The Maxus D60 can be had in one of the slew of color options to choose from, namely Competitive Orange, Polar Ash, Warm Argent, Warm White, Wace Red, and Metal Black.

Maxus D60 Interior
On the inside, the Maxus D60 follows a minimalist yet classy approach in the overall layout of the cabin and various controls. Despite the simple layout, the cabin of the Maxus D60 looks very fresh and quite futuristic too.
In addition to the full TFT instrument panel behind the three-spoke steering wheel, the large and angularly placed touchscreen infotainment system in the center console makes the cabin look straight away from the future. The long rectangular panel for the touchscreen infotainment system also houses touch-sensitive controls for the automatic climate control as well, which is indeed a unique touch here.
The seven-seater cabin of the Maxus D60 is decently equipped with few other features like leather upholstery, rear AC vents, multi-functional steering wheel, push-button start with keyless entry, and electronic parking brake. The third row of seats in the top-spec Elite variant is just adequate for small children and not full-sized adults. The lower-spec Pro variant does with five seats only.

Maxus D60 Exterior
In the sea of compact and premium midsize SUVs, the Maxus D60 is sure to have its own identity, for the unique modern design language it wears. The perfectly crafted dimensions and distinctive lines and curves of the Maxus D60 make it look purposeful and make it one of the freshest looking SUVs on the block right now.
The front profile of the Maxus D60 looks quite unique with the bold-looking octagonal cobweb grille, which gets very sleek-looking daytime running LEDs, beyond its upper outward edges. Given the recent trend, the Maxus D60 has got vertically laid all-LED headlamps placed on the corners of the front bumper. To add some rugged appeal to the SUV, the Maxus D60 comes with thin body cladding at the bottom of the bumper and a skid plate in the center.
The body cladding extends well on the sides too, with the lower portion of the door panels wearing them with full grace. The Maxus D60 looks big when viewed from the sides, and has some good road presence. The flared wheel arch, which flows smoothly along the character line running below the window line adds some more bulk to the side profile. Thanks to the presence of machined alloy wheels and chrome surround for the window panels, the Maxus D60 has an air of premium appeal too.
At the back, the Maxus D60 has a simple flair to it, with sizeable LED tail lamps adjoined to each other with a sleek and thin strip of the LED light bar running between them, across the width of the boot lid. The bold Maxus lettering below this light bar accentuates the width of the SUV even more.

Maxus D60 Ride & Handling
The Maxus D60 has been developed on a monocoque frame and gets independent Mcpherson struts at the front and independent multi-link at the rear. The overall ride quality of the Maxus D60 is quite supple, while there is a slight body roll which makes the overall handling of the Maxus D60 a bit of a task at quick high-speed maneuvers. The Maxus D60 rides on 18-inch wheels in the Elite variant and smaller 17-inch wheels on the lower spec Pro variant.
-
Maxus D60 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Maxus D60 has got a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, which is coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as the standard transmission option. The engine is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 169 PS and a maximum torque output of 250 Nm. The engine scores brilliantly when it comes to sheer refinement levels, but the inconsistent power delivery curbs the driving appeal a bit.
-
Maxus D60 Braking & Safety
The Maxus D60 covers all the basic grounds of safety measures, with the SUV having features like front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, electronic parking brake, electronic stabilization program, brake assist, hill hold control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera and tire pressure monitoring system.
-
Maxus D60 Verdict
The Maxus D60 might not be a groundbreaking product in terms of technologies and features onboard. But its revolutionary fresh styling surely makes it an attention magnet. The well-laid and spacious interior cabin surely is one good place to be in too.
