Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Overview
The Mercedes Benz V-Class is one unique and niche offering among the range of sedans, SUVs and coupes from the German carmaker, for it is the only luxury MUV you can buy with the coveted three-pointed star badge on it. The Philippines car market gets the Mercedes Benz V-Class in just one standard V220 variant, which has both standard and long-wheelbase versions on sale and a standard diesel automatic powertrain.

Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Interior
The V-Class is a typical Mercedes Benz product by all means, and that it is most evident by how well its interior cabin has been laid out. By using top-quality leather upholstery and trim choices, the Mercedes Benz V-Class looks very luxurious from the inside and has a slightly different dashboard and seats layout, which puts it in a different league from the rest of the cars from the company.
While the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, as well as twin-pod themed instrument console with a very informative MID in between, is a very familiar-looking driver’s cockpit, the rest of the dashboard looks very different. The layered theme for the dashboard has a broad and smooth looking middle portion, which features a four rounded propeller-like AC vents and a pop-up style rectangular touchscreen infotainment system with a minimalist panel for buttons of audio and climate controller below it.
The lower center console has a slanted U-shaped design which gets a touch-controlled pad with the brushed aluminium finish around it. The huge sense of space which the rear seats of the Mercedes Benz V-Class provide is truly a best-in-class experience, which gets innumerable seating configurations, including the front-facing ones as well.

Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Exterior
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class has evolved a lot in all these years, with the large luxury MPV getting a host of design changes and cues, much of which match with the rest of the family cars.
Take for instance, the front profile of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, which gets a very familiar-looking wide front grille and a pair of sweptback headlamps with rounded edges. While the grille gets a wide layout with two satin chrome bars running across its width and comes with rounded edges, the headlamps look quite sleek for an MPV and are adorned with wishbone-shaped daytime running LEDs placed on their upper edges and LED projector bulbs tucked below them.
The side profile of the Mercedes Benz V-Class looks a bit boring, as the long MPV has a laid back approach to design here with only one prominent crease flowing from front fender to the upper edge of the tail lamp. The large side windows come with a sleek chrome garnish on their bottom edges, while the simple-looking rounded wheel arches fit in the large multi-spoke alloy wheels quite well.
The rear profile of the Mercedes Benz V-Class is the one which doesn’t create a very strong visual impression, as the rear windscreen, with its extremely large design and tapered lower edges, looks a bit awkward in actual. Like most of the MPVs, the Mercedes Benz V-Class too gets a pair of vertically laid tail lamps on the outer edges of the rear most door.
-
Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Ride & Handling
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is being offered with multiple seating layouts for six, seven or eight passengers, and depending on the seating capacity you want, you can choose one. The ride quality is on a softer side, given its MPV-ish personality, and the boxy profile naturally translates to the fact that the Mercedes Benz V-Class is not a strong handler, but has a decent driving appeal behind the steering wheel.
-
Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Engine & Fuel Consumption
Under the hood of the big Mercedes-Benz V-Class is a rather small and understated 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is coupled to a 7-speed automatic gearbox and channels the power produced to rear wheels. The engine is capable of putting up a maximum power output of 163 PS and a peak torque output of 380 Nm.
-
Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Braking & Safety
The luxurious persona of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is well reflected in its list of safety features as well, with the MPV being bestowed with things like the front, side and curtain airbags, dynamic radar cruise control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, automatic high beam, lane departure alert, hill start assist, front pre-collision system, a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, tire pressure monitoring system, limited-slip differential and front and rear parking sensors with reverse camera.
-
Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS Verdict
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class offers unparalleled levels of luxury and back seat experience, with the MPV banking high on comfortable seats, supple ride quality and presence of top quality features which currently no other MPV offers in its class.
