Subaru WRX STI

The piano black finishes are noticed all around the cabin with ample soft-touch materials. The car features luxury trimmings with a powered driver’s seat, leather and Alcantara upholstery, sunroof, and the latest newfangled front camera. 

The STI now comes with a bigger multifunction display with better resolution. The infotainment system is updated with a new head unit and easier-to-read buttons. Rear passengers get an armrest with cup holders and seat belts. The increase of 10mm in the wheelbase has allowed an extra bit of legroom in the rear row. 

The WRX STI is a pretty long sedan that measures 4595 mm in length, 1795 mm in width, and 1475 mm in height. Available in 7 different colors, the STI is a pretty well-designed and stylish sedan that has an aerodynamic design with an aggressive stance. 

The WRX STI 2.5 MT features 18-inch alloy wheels that add to the appeal of the car. The body lines on the side and rear along with the wider fenders and wider track provide the car with an aggressive and sporty look. The front bumper now features larger intake vents and new blacked-out trim pieces. 

The car got upgraded in 2018 with a new big rear wing and a more aggressive front fascia design. The front face loses the fog lamps and features low-mounted indicators and new headlights that feature adaptive LED lighting. The redesigned grille is simpler and comes with the STI emblem.

The STI is known for its superior driving dynamics, smooth handling, and great driving comfort on all kinds of road conditions. The suspension system consists of MacPherson Strut in the front and Double Wishbone at the rear. The car has a ground clearance of 135 mm and a wheelbase of 2650 mm and comes with 245/40 R18 Radial tires that offer greater stability at higher speeds.

The WRX STI packs a 2457cc inline 4-cylinder 16 Valve DOHC Petrol engine under its hood. The engine can make 296 hp of power and 407 Nm of torque, and paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD, the car offers impressive performance and an excellent driving experience. 

The braking is handled by 6 piston Brembo calipers that enable enough stopping power to the car. The tires are wide enough and enable stable braking. The car comes with all standard safety features like Brake Assist, Front Airbags, EBD, and Traction Control. 

Overall, the WRX STI stands to be a very compact and practical sedan in its segment. The car competes against stalwarts in its segment and does pretty well in terms of a 2.5-litre sedan. Based on an older platform, the 6-speed manual transmission is impressive although the car lacks a few latest tech features overall, it is a great package at its price.
