Suzuki S-PRESSO Overview
The Suzuki S-Presso is an affordable entry-level hatchback that stands out from its segment rivals with its increased ground clearance. It was quietly launched during the peak of the global Covid-19 pandemic in March-April 2020, yet it has become one of the top-selling cars in the Philippines market for the Japanese automobile major.
Positioned below the Celerio hatchback in all countries, the S-Presso is designed to appeal to urban buyers seeking an economical daily commuting car. Its agile performance makes it well-suited for maneuvering through city streets.
In November 2021, Suzuki Philippines introduced a special edition of the S-Presso, featuring a refreshed interior and several updates to its exterior. This continuous effort to improve the model reflects Suzuki's commitment to meeting the needs of its customers and staying competitive in the market.
What are the color options available for the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso?

Suzuki S-PRESSO Interior
The interior of the 2023 S-Presso sets it apart from other Suzuki cars by striking a balance between utility and in-class premium features. While the company traditionally focused on practicality to keep production costs and prices low, this model showcases a departure from the norm. The cabin exhibits a modern design, with the center console taking center stage, featuring a round-styled, centrally stacked digital instrument panel inspired by digital sports watches. This youthful and contemporary look aligns with the car's target audience of young buyers.
Although hard plastics are abundant in the cabin, they exude a durable quality, instilling confidence in their longevity. The fit and finish of the interior surpass other Suzuki cars, displaying mostly consistent panel gaps throughout.
The S-Presso offers generous legroom, particularly in the front seats, typical of hatchbacks. Compared to other compact hatchbacks, it boasts more overall space. The central placement of the door and window controls results in relatively plain door cards, and while the lower-end plastics could have been improved, the slimmer doors provide extra elbow room.
Passengers in the rear seat will enjoy ample space, making the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso a comfortable four-passenger car, with the possibility of accommodating a fifth person. The backseat offers sufficient legroom, and the soft and supportive seats offer a pleasant view of the road ahead, aided by larger windows than many of its rivals.
Boot Space
In the compact hatchback segment, the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso offers the most generous passenger space, ensuring a comfortable journey for all four occupants. However, it may not be the most suitable option for long drives, as rear-seat passengers might need to readjust their seating position occasionally. Nevertheless, the fabric seats provide decent comfort for extended rides.Despite its status as an entry-level hatchback, the S-Presso surprises with a spacious 240 liters of boot space, allowing for ample storage capacity for various needs.
Comfort & Entertainment
The dashboard of the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso is dominated by a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. While the sound system is basic, the large analog meters on the instrument panel are easy to read. However, there are limited cubby holes and storage spaces in the interior. The manual air-conditioning system works efficiently, cooling the car quickly, but Suzuki should consider adding automatic climate control, which is becoming increasingly standard across all segments. -
Suzuki S-PRESSO Exterior
The 2023 Suzuki S-Presso boasts a distinctive appearance, although its overall attractiveness might not be for everyone. The vibrant colors do catch the eye, especially when the car is in motion. Suzuki has taken an interesting approach by blending a sports utility vehicle (SUV) design with a hatchback, even labeling the S-Presso as a mini-SUV. The front fascia prominently features a grille and squared-off headlights, with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs) in the bumper, giving it a more modern touch. From the side profile, it's clear that Suzuki's designers aimed to replicate the tall stance of an SUV for this hatchback, aligning with the original tall-boy design. The rear of the S-Presso is relatively simple, with minimal design elements, and all lights are equipped with halogen bulbs.
What is the wheelbase and ground clearance of the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso?
It has a wheelbase of 2,380mm and a ground clearance of 180mm, accentuated by its tall stance.
What are the wheel options of the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso?
All models of the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso come equipped with standard 14-inch steel wheels.

The fuel efficiency improves on highways, reaching an impressive 21 kmpl.

The fuel tank capacity of the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso is 27 liters, providing ample capacity for efficient journeys.

Suzuki S-PRESSO Ride & Handling
This funky car has a lightweight setup for the steering and the combination of MacPherson struts and torsion beam as front and rear suspensions, respectively, you can have decent riding experience. What’s good about this car is that its Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) insulation is pretty good. The muffler noise, road noise, and floor vibration are minimized through optimizing body characteristics. Apart from the noises, the enhanced insulation materials in the car body were given intricate improvements to optimize the airflow, ideal balance of design, and the aerodynamic performance of the car. There are just some problems when the car is at high speed because of the limited feedback from the steering as well as the slightly high ground clearance which makes the car lose out on the finesse of the stability.
The seats are a combination of vinyl and fabric so it is comfortable enough. Also, in spite of being compact, the legroom wasn’t compromised for this car so that is a definite plus.

Suzuki S-PRESSO Engine & Fuel Consumption
The 2023 Suzuki S-Presso GL is powered by a naturally aspirated, three-cylinder, 1.0-liter petrol engine, delivering 67PS of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 90Nm of peak torque at 3,500rpm. This engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission (MT) and sits on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform. The company emphasizes that this new platform enhances the vehicle's structural strength, effectively dispersing impact forces during a collision, resulting in a more robust feel compared to previous Suzuki models. The suspension consists of MacPherson front struts and a torsion-beam setup at the rear, providing a slightly stiffer ride that instills confidence, especially on the highway.
In April 2023, Suzuki introduced the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission option for the S-Presso. This new transmission is seamlessly integrated with the engine, allowing smooth gear changes, particularly during acceleration. While the 1.0-liter engine may not be the most potent in its class and takes some time to rev up, the S-Presso offers a well-balanced ride once it gains momentum.
Is the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso available in diesel?
The 2023 Suzuki S-Presso is not available in a diesel variant. It is solely offered with a 1.0-liter petrol engine.
-
Suzuki S-PRESSO Braking & Safety
Built on the HEARTECT platform, the S-Presso prioritizes in-cabin protection in case of a collision by effectively absorbing and dispersing crash energy. This platform utilizes high-tensile steel to make the car lightweight while providing optimal safety. Additionally, the car comes equipped with various driver-assist features and safety equipment, including antilock braking, engine immobilizer, stability control, and rear parking sensors. However, the absence of speed-sensing door locks is a notable omission, and Suzuki should also consider adding cruise control and the push-start option to enhance convenience.
One significant drawback is the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso's rating in the global NCAP test, where it received only one star for adult protection and zero stars for child safety protection. Despite its practicality, this aspect poses a significant concern for potential buyers who prioritize safety in their car choice.
How many airbags does the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso have?
Regarding safety features, the car includes airbags for the driver and front-passenger only.
How many cameras does the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso have?
No additional cameras are present in this subcompact hatchback.
