Suzuki Vitara

The cabin of the Suzuki Vitara is designed as safely as the exterior body and doesn’t break any benchmarks in terms of theme or features on board. It looks quite conservative, which might look boring to some people who are out for an SUV of this segment.

However, the dashboard feels easy on the eyes, with a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel sourced from the previous generation model and a simple-looking instrument console with a large monochrome MID sitting in between forming the driver’s cockpit.

The centre console looks wide and heavy with a large trapezoidal-shaped panel flowing downwards, housing a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a panel for the automatic climate control below it. The circular analog clock placed between two round AC vents at the top of this centre console is a nice touch.

The Suzuki Vitara is equipped with all the essential features one can think of for an SUV of this segment, which includes things like a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery and cruise control. However, the Vitara really comes into its element when its interior space is discussed, with more than enough room available for five passengers, a sense which only is amplified even more by large side windows and the huge sunroof above.

The Suzuki Vitara takes a leaf from the design of the previously available Grand Vitara and retains the upright stance and crisp lines, thus giving it a traditional SUV flavour, while making it look updated as per current design norms.

The front fascia of the Suzuki Vitara is complete with a trapezoidal front grille which consists of six tapered chrome slats within the grille. Flanking this wide looking front grille are an angular set of headlamps, which do consist of LED projectors within them. The front bumper has a busy design to it, with a trapezoidal-shaped central air intake and round fog lamps with vertically placed daytime running LEDs beside them.

The side profile of Suzuki Vitara looks simple with round wheel arches and straight shoulder line, along with layered design for the character lines above the rear wheel arch. The 17-inch machined alloy wheels look nice and perfectly fill the wheel arches making it look proportional.

It is the rear profile of the Suzuki Vitara which looks rather plain-jane with large tail lamps and trapezoidal housing for the license plate. However, the dual-tone roof treatment spices up things a little bit.

The Suzuki Vitara is based on monocoque construction and gets Macpherson struts with coil springs at the front and torsion beam with coil springs at the rear. The suspension feels firm and with perfectly weighted steering setup makes for a sure-footed driving experience. The disc brake setup on all the four wheels is an added bonus for reassured braking.

The Suzuki Vitara is available with just one petrol automatic powertrain as standard, which is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 116 PS and a peak torque output of 156 Nm. The power is channeled then to front wheels.

The Suzuki Vitara is blessed with noteworthy safety amenities like the front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability program, hill hold control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

The Suzuki Vitara is one conservatively styled SUV in and out, which with all the necessary equipment on board, feels adequate for the job it has been designed for, if not plucking hearts of the young enthusiasts. However, the SUV feels like one good well-rounded package, when it comes to performance, space, and driving dynamics.
