BMW S 1000 Overview
Sitting at the pinnacle of the litre-class supersport segment, the BMW S1000 is highly regarded in this category for the technological prowess and excellence in each and every aspect. BMW S 1000 Design
The BMW S1000 entered into the motorcycling scene with its very attractive asymmetric design language, which was one of its kind in its category of supersport motorcycles. However, in this second-generation avatar, BMW has toned down the design a bit and has chosen the path of conventionalism, which though hasn’t reduced its desirability much.
The BMW S1000 looks very sporty and curvy when viewed head-on, with the front fascia now having asymmetric look with two LED projectors stacked within slim hexagonal housings. These projectors do come with sleek looking U-shaped daytime running LEDs. The front fairing here comes with a Y-shaped black motif, which extends all the way up towards the large transparent windscreen. The fairing also comes with rearview mirrors attached on it, which accommodate LED turn signals – a first for the BMW S1000RR.
The side fairing of the BMW S1000 has been artistically crafted with a couple of large hollows to facilitate heat dissipation in the best possible form. The large and bulbous looking fuel tank is mounted quite at a height, with inverted C-shaped small side body cowls placed just below it. The bridge-type frame of the motorcycle is slightly exposed below the rider’s seat, which makes way for a small tailpiece which rises upwards and accommodates the small pillion perch. At the back, just below the tailpiece, there is a tiny rear fender, which comes fitted with sleek LED turn indicators, which in a unique fashion, also doubles up as the main tail lamps.
The instrument console of the BMW S1000 is also an all-new unit, with the rectangular full TFT LCD panel having a multitude of colored displays showing all the possible information on board. The data on display in the instrument console of the BMW S1000 includes speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, odometer, trip meters, selected riding mode, gear indicator, clock and other warning lights. The clip-on handlebars and premium switchgear exude top-notch build quality and fit and finish BMW Motorrad has always been known for.

BMW S 1000 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The BMW S1000 retains the four-stroke, inline-four, water/oil-cooled, fuel-injected, 999cc engine, which features premium titanium valves and comes paired here to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is a powerhouse in a true sense, with its maximum power output rated at 207 PS and the maximum torque output rated at 113 Nm, thus making it one of the most powerful production-spec litre-class motorcycles produced till date.
-
BMW S 1000 Braking & Safety
