CFMoto 400 NK Review

CFMoto 400 NK Overview
Positioned below the 650 NK as the company’s smaller middleweight motorcycle, the CF Moto 400 NK promises to offer the middle ground between an entry-level quarter liter motorcycle and a full-fledged middleweight one. The CF Moto 400 NK is available in the Philippines in one standard variant, which is being offered in two colour options – Nebula White and Athens Blue.

CFMoto 400 NK Design
CF Moto has worked commendably in designing the 400 NK, the motorcycle neither feels too small for a quarter-liter motorcycle nor as intimidating as a conventional middleweight motorcycle for new riders. It strikes the right balance, making it a friendly motorcycle for riders new to performance-oriented motorcycles.
For a 400cc motorcycle, the CF Moto 400 NK looks quite aggressive, which makes it look as contemporary and desirable as a bigger 650cc motorcycle. The front stance of the CF Moto 400 NK looks futuristic with the full LED headlamp, which gets tapered side cowls and has rounded side upper edges, giving the motorcycle an in-your-face attitude. This front fascia gets a small body-colored visor atop of the headlamp, besides which are placed sleek all LED turn indicators. The front fender too looks nice with its well-crafted contours.
The side profile of the CF Moto 400 NK is well dominated by the big and muscular looking fuel tank, which is finished in dual-tone treatment and has pointed and elongated extensions, which get additional protruding panels to make the fuel tank look bulkier. The radiator shrouds here too are big and pointy, and so is the underbody engine cowl, which nicely merges with the lower side body panels, which along with the engine, is finished in an all-black theme. The five-spoke alloy wheels look nice with split design for the spokes, while the stubby single exhaust can go well with the compact theme of the motorcycle.
Moving towards the rear, the CF Moto 400 NK looks compact but bulkier, thanks to the stubby but wide tailpiece. The motorcycle gets split seat theme, with the pillion seat-mounted slightly higher above the pointy tailpiece rising high in an angular manner. Beneath the tailpiece is placed a nice looking LED tail lamp, below which there is placed a protruding sleek rear fender.
While all the motorcycles in this segment are now getting digital instrument consoles, the CF Moto 400 NK stands out with a unique design for its meter console, having a butterfly-like layout for the fully digital panel. It shows completely digital readouts for speedometer, odometer, trip meters, clock, fuel gauge, tachometer, and gear indicator.

CFMoto 400 NK Ride & Handling
Under the skin, the mechanicals of the CF Moto is not too fancy, with the motorcycle getting conventional telescopic forks at the front and side aligned mono-shock with adjustable preload and rebound at the rear. The suspension, keeping its more comfort-oriented approach, has been tuned on a softer end to make it feel comfortable. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels and features an excellent braking setup of dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.
-
CFMoto 400 NK Engine & Fuel Consumption
The CF Moto has been fitted with a four-stroke, inline twin, liquid-cooled, 400cc engine, which is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine has quite impressive numbers for its category, with 40 PS of maximum power and 34.4 Nm of torque. Thanks to its inline twin layout for the small engine, the refinement levels of the engine of the CF Moto 400 NK is impressive and makes it a quick machine as well, with the top speed of the motorcycle rated at 155 kmph.
-
CFMoto 400 NK Braking & Safety
While the CF Moto 400 NK lacks many contemporary safety features now becoming common in global middleweight motorcycles, it gets the compulsory inclusion of a dual-channel ABS, which works great with the dual disc brakes at the front and the single disc brake at the rear.
-
CFMoto 400 NK Verdict
The CF Moto 400 NK lacks the snob value of its Japanese and European counterparts, but comes out as a well rounded and value for money package with an aggressive design language and smooth and refined twin-cylinder 400cc engine on offer.
