Ducati Monster 821 Overview
The Ducati Monster 821 is positioned bang in the middle of the Monster family of naked roadsters from Ducati. By the looks and its specs, the Ducati Monster 821 feels to be a scaled-down version of the flagship model, the Monster 1200, with lower but more usable power on tap in urban conditions. The Ducati Monster 821 is made available in the Philippines in two color options – Ducati Red and Stealth Black, with the latter packing in a few additional equipment.

Ducati Monster 821 Design
By the looks of it, the Ducati Monster 821 looks like a scaled-down version of the flagship version, the Monster 1200. The overall design is a perfect blend of retro and modern design bits, which makes its presence looks timeless and beautiful. It is smaller than the Monster 1200, but its overall dimensions and stance are perfect for a premium middleweight motorcycle.
At the front, the Ducati Monster 821 gets a rounded headlamp, which is flanked by clear lens turn indicators on its upper corners. The Stealth Black variant of the motorcycle gets a couple of additional bits here like daytime running LEDs in the middle of the headlamp and a cool looking visor above the headlamp. This whole headlamp setup, along with the short front fender, makes the front end of the motorcycle look compact and minimalist.
The visual bulk of the Ducati Monster 821 starts to be felt when you see the motorcycle from the side. The large and bulky looking fuel tank is responsible for giving this motorcycle a muscular stance. This fuel tank has been well-sculpted with rounded knee recesses and a large trellis frame exposed below it. Below the fuel tank, the whole area is well filled up by the huge engine of the Monster 821. Like in the Monster 1200, the engine of the Ducati Monster 821 too comes with a double-barrel exhaust setup on one side.
The Ducati Monster 821, like other versions of Monster, has a minimal looking rear side design, with a short tail section. The pillion seat comes with a standard seat cover, which is removable whenever is required. At the back of the pillion seat sits a small LED tail lamp.
The Ducati Monster 821 too gets an almost flat handlebar with premium switchgear and a full TFT instrument console behind its center. This console offers a variety of data, ranging from speed, engine rpm, fuel level, engine temperature level, odometer, trip meters, selected gear, selected ride mode and so on.

Ducati Monster 821 Ride & Handling

Riding on light 10-spoke alloy wheels, the Ducati Monster 821 gets dual 320mm disc brakes at the front and a single 245mm disc brake at the rear.

Ducati Monster 821 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Ducati Monster 821 is powered by a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, Testastretta 11-degree L-twin 821cc engine, which somehow looks inspired by the engine of other models in the Monster lineup. This engine here is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and pumps out maximum power and torque outputs of 109 bhp and 86 Nm respectively.
-
Ducati Monster 821 Braking & Safety
The Ducati Monster 821 is packed with all the essential equipment when it comes to safety for a middleweight motorcycle. The Monster 821 gets power modes, riding modes, ABS and Ducati traction control, with an optional up and down quick-shifter available as an option.

Ducati Monster 821 Verdict
With its simple and minimalist design with a premium finish all over it, the Ducati Monster 821 is a true Ducati motorcycle by all standards. While it gets lesser equipment when compared to other motorcycles in its segment, the Ducati Monster 821 makes up with the more usable performance and agile riding dynamics, a combination that is one of the finest ones can expect from a big bike. However, despite its shorter equipment list, the Ducati Monster 821 is more expensive than other middleweight motorcycles in its segment, which makes it a lesser value-for-money proposition.
