Ducati SuperSport Overview
For those who do not want too much aggression in their fully-faired motorcycle as in Panigale, Ducati provides a slightly calmer and more touring and urban-friendly experience with the Supersport. The middleweight fully-faired Ducati Supersport offers the best of both the worlds of a fully-faired sports tourer and a track machine in its overall packaging. The Ducati Supersport is available in two variants – Standard and S – which are offered with three colour options – Red, Titanium Grey, and White.

Ducati SuperSport Design
While the Ducati Supersport is offered as a more subtle form of a fully faired sportbike as compared to the Panigale, it still has got the quintessential Italian charm in its design. Despite being two decades old now, the Ducati Supersport still looks perfectly exquisite, owing to its timeless design.
The front profile of the Ducati Supersport looks aerodynamic with its curved front fairing, which is garnished by the presence of large and wide V-shaped daytime running LED, with dual headlamps neatly tucked in between it – one on either side. The rounded transparent visor above the headlamp cluster looks nice and is functional as well. The fairing mounted rearview mirrors do come with integrated LED turn indicators within them.
The side fairing of the Ducati Supersport is not too big in actual size, with tapered edges on its sides and bottom edges. However, it nicely masks the red coloured trellis frame as well as the black finished engine. The alloy wheels too are painted in red to lend it an exotic appeal, which is further enhanced by the single side rear aluminium swing-arm and the dual exhaust pipes stacked one over the other.
The Ducati Supersport looks racy with minimal side body panels and the single-piece seat which bulges upwards while moving towards the rear. The tail lamp at the back is small, and so is the rear fender, and along with the golden coloured slanted rear monoshock placed beneath the seat, make the rear look quite cool. To enhance its sportiness, the S variant also adds in a rear seat cowl.
In a typical sport-bike fashion, the Ducati Supersport has clip-on handlebars that are placed slightly lower, which do feel sporty along with rear-set footpegs. The wide fully digital instrument console is not as modern in appeal as those in other premium Ducati motorcycles. However, it is super informative right from the word go, with readouts for speedometer, odometer, trip meters, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, temperature gauge, and various other details of MID.

Ducati SuperSport Ride & Handling
Compared to the Panigale, the Ducati Supersport gives a more urban-oriented ergonomics and riding appeal. While the Standard version comes with Marzocchi forks at the front and Sachs mono-shock at the rear, the sportier S variant is fitted with front forks and rear mono-shock sourced from Ohlins. For braking, the Ducati Supersport has been fitted with dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.
-
Ducati SuperSport Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Ducati Supersport comes fitted with a four-stroke, V-twin, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 937cc engine, which it shares with the smallest Multistrada on sale. The engine here is retuned for more aggressive power delivery in comparison. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and pumps out a maximum power output of 111 PS and a peak torque output of 93 Nm.
-
Ducati SuperSport Braking & Safety
The Ducati Supersport is the least equipped premium Ducati motorcycle when it comes to electronic riding aids. However, the motorcycle manages to do away with a dual-channel ABS, traction control, quickshifter, and traction control with riding modes on offer.
-
Ducati SuperSport Verdict
With its slightly more comfortable ergonomics and riding dynamics as compared to the outright sporty Panigale, the Ducati Supersport manages to appeal to you as a well-rounded middleweight fully-faired motorcycle. However, from a couple of aspects like the instrument console and features list, it appeals as a bit dated. However, when it comes to outright performance and road presence, the Ducati Supersport is one well-rounded motorcycle.
