Ducati XDiavel Review

Ducati XDiavel Overview
First launched as a more premium and stylish variant over the standard Diavel, the Ducati XDiavel is a sleeker-looking version of the former with a more traditional riding stance than a typical cruiser. The Ducati XDiavel has been positioned over all the variants of the standard Diavel, and is available in the Philippines in two different variants – XDiavel and XDiavel S. While the XDiavel is offered in Matt Liquid Concrete Grey, the more premium and kitted XDiavel S comes finished in a glossy looking shade of Thrilling Black.

Ducati XDiavel Design
The Ducati Diavel is already a great-looking motorcycle, and Ducati went one step ahead with the XDiavel, by adding in a touch of sleekness to the brawny and wide-looking motorcycle. In the process, the Ducati XDiavel has become a leaner-looking motorcycle, with even better-looking muscularity in its overall visual appeal.
The front profile of the Ducati XDiavel has a raked headlamp, which looks more geometric than the headlamp of the standard Diavel. This full LED headlamp gets inverted U-shaped daytime running LED around the upper and side edges of it. The headlamp is encased in a slim-looking silver-finished cowl, the upper corners of which are flanked by tiny LED turn indicators. The Ducati XDiavel misses out on a proper windscreen or a visor above the headlamp. The motorcycle comes with a tiny front fender, which gives it a true essence of an old-school chopper.
The Ducati XDiavel looks like a proper low-slung cruiser when viewed from sideways. The stretched and forward placed long handlebar, forward set footpegs, and lowered seat height give it a traditional cruiser stance. However, it is a modern and flashy-looking motorcycle in every inch of it, with its long and curved fuel tank with carved knee recesses, trellis frame, huge black-themed engine, big engine cowl, and upswept but stubby looking dual exhaust pipes.
The Ducati XDiavel looks very distinctive from the rear, with a stubby design for the floating tailpiece and a curved seat over it. The chunky-looking rear tyre is the star highlight here, which enhances the brawniness of the XDiavel even more. What makes the tyre look even more attention-grabbing is the single-sided swing-arm and small tyre hugger over it, the latter of which also gets LED turn indicators mounted on it.
Like all the modern Ducatis apart from the Scrambler series, the XDiavel also gets a full TFT 3.5-inch instrument console which has a whole range of data on offer. The more premium XDiavel S comes with backlit switchgear, Bluetooth compatibility in the instrument console, and machined finish for the belt covers of the engine, radiator side covers, rearview mirrors, frame, and footpeg plates, and alloy wheels.

Ducati XDiavel Ride & Handling
For a cruiser motorcycle, the Ducati XDiavel has a modern and new generation mechanical setup under the skin. The XDiavel is armed with a suspension combination of fully adjustable upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and preload and rebound adjustable mono-shock with a single-sided swing-arm at the rear. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, the Ducati XDiavel gets dual 320mm discs at the front and a single 265mm disc at the rear.
-
Ducati XDiavel Engine & Fuel Consumption
At the heart of the Ducati XDiavel sits a four-stroke, Testastretta, 90-degree V2, 1262cc engine, which is liquid-cooled and is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. This modern engine for a cruiser motorcycle makes a maximum power output of 152 bhp at 9,500 rpm and maximum torque output of 126 Nm at 5,000 rpm. These figures do make the Ducati XDiavel the most powerful cruiser currently on sale in the country.
-
Ducati XDiavel Braking & Safety
The Ducati XDiavel is easily the most feature-rich cruiser available all over the world, with a long list of electronic riding aids proving this point. The motorcycle gets aids like cornering ABS, riding modes, power modes, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Power Launch, and cruise control. While the list is not as generous as in other roadster and supersport motorcycles from Ducati, it surely gets the job done for the Ducati XDiavel.
-
Ducati XDiavel Verdict
The core of the desirability of the Ducati XDiavel has to be its styling – it surely looks like nothing from the current crop of cruisers available. This off-beat styling, coupled with modern engine and mechanicals, surely gives the Ducati XDiavel an edge over other traditional and old-school cruisers.
