Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic has not met with many changes in the last few years, except for the addition of a few features and new colour options every year. However, despite the limited changes it has received in all these years, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic still has got the charm and personality of an all-new motorcycle, which looks very premium for its size.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic gets a big rounded LED headlamp with daytime running LED at the front, which is accompanied by two auxiliary rounded LED lights, with one on either side of the main headlamp. There is a massive transparent windscreen placed above these front lamp units, while below the lights, you get a curved member finished in chrome. Just below the auxiliary headlamps, you get small rounded turn indicators finished in chrome. Traditionally, the front fender is huge and well-curved.

Move towards the side profile, and the size and aura of the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic amplify even more. The motorcycle gets the traditional peanut-style curved fuel tank and the iconic V-twin layout for the engine, which is finished in a balanced mix of dark chrome and shining chrome. Adding contrast to the side profile are body-coloured side body panels below the rider’s seat and twin exhaust pipes in a shining theme of chrome.

At the back, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic looks wide, thanks to the integration of side bags mounted on either side of the curved rear fender. There is a simple tail lamp mounted on the tip of the rear fender, which is flanked with amber turn indicators. The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic comes standard with spoke wheels and bobber-style fatter tyres.

Just above the fuel tank, there is a sloping panel on which there is a rounded 5-inch instrument console. This unit packs in an analogue speedometer and an LCD panel which reads out gear indicator, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, tachometer and range.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is a motorcycle that is engineered for long-distance touring with ease. For this, the suspension setup of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock at the back has been turned on a plusher side. The motorcycle comes with dual disc brakes with 4-piston callipers at the front and a single disc brake with a 2-piston calliper at the rear for braking duties.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic gets its thrust from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, V-twin, Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and pumps out a maximum torque output of 155 Nm. The power output of the engine is not disclosed by Harley Davidson. However, what’s clear is that the engine has enough grunt and torque in the lower and mid-range.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is packed with decent safety features like a dual-channel ABS, anti-theft security system and cruise control. However, given the premium pricing, we would have loved to see more features on the board.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is not for someone who is looking for a premium bike for short city rides. The gigantic road presence, torquey engine and comfortable suspension setup make the Heritage Classic a perfect option for munching long distances with ease and comfort. The motorcycle might be lacking in modern equipment and features. However, it is the old-school aura and charm of the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic which makes it a truly special motorcycle.
