Harley-Davidson Nightster

There is a good reason why a Harley-Davidson is iconic. While the Nightster is relatively new, it retains the overall look of a classic Harley. Its chopped tail section gives it a muscular, lowrider-esque appeal, while its sculpted ‘fuel tank’ (which in reality is just a molded airbox cover) adds the perfect blend of ruggedness and athleticism that made the Harley so popular. The real fuel tank, by the way, is hidden underneath the seat.

The centerpiece is a round headlight with LED daytime running light (DRL) for better visibility. The classic low-and-wide Harley handlebars guarantee a comfortable grip and ease of maneuverability. Classic circular side mirrors and a full suite of LED lights complete the nod to the timeless Harley aesthetic.

While most Harley models are chrome-forward, the Nightster sports a more subdued, minimalist aesthetic, showcasing a lot of blued metal and matte black color schemes. Some customizability is also available for those who find its standard Vivid Black to be too bland, although the only thing that changes in hue is the molded airbox cover. The Nightster comes in two other color variants for you to choose from: Redline, and Gunship Grey.

Expect to find a minimalist gauge cluster that sits flush on the handlebar riser. It features a single analog speedometer specifically designed for ease of readability. It also comes with a sizeable digital display just underneath, which shows the fuel level, gear shift indicator, odometer, trip meters, and clock. 

Its handlebar controls come with the standard set of controls for any motorcycle, but you do have a choice to upgrade the Nightster with additional safety and performance-oriented controls, depending on its availability.

The rider’s seat offers basic padding and a low profile. And while it is designed as a one-seater, the addition of a pillion seat is another customizable option. With minimal built-in storage, you’ll be able to stow some basic tools underneath the seat, though you’ll need saddlebags or a tank bag if you’re looking for extra storage space.

With a lighter weight thanks to its stressed member chassis, lower seat height, Showa fork and twin shock suspension, and mid-mound controls, the Nightster provides the best of efficiency, comfort, and performance without sacrificing speed or power. 

The Nightster deviates from the traditional air-cooled engine of its predecessor in favor of a liquid-cooled Revolution Max 9575T engine with a 60-degree V-twin Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC), done up as a stressed-member engine bolted directly to the chassis, both for improved handling and lighter weight. 

Capable of providing 89 HP at 7,500 rpm with 70 lb-ft of torque at 5,750 rpm, the Nightster is an acceleration beast. High-revving this beauty will clock you in at a maximum of 9,500 rpm. Add to this a 6-speed gearbox with a belt final drive, and you get the perfect balance of strong low-end torque, with smooth and efficient power delivery.

The Nightster comes with the standard safety features you can expect from the marque. Anti-lock braking systems, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, and the Harley-exclusive Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS) all guarantee a safe, reliable, and comfortable ride.
