Honda Gold Wing

When it comes to the design of the bike, the very first thing that amazes you about the Gold Wing is its massive size that will surely not fit into what counts for motorbike parking in the Philippines, as the dimension is closer to a car rather than a bike. The next factor that will excite you is the pillion seat, which not only gets a backrest but also comes fitted with armrests. 

It can be clearly seen that comfort sits at the top of the priority list. Although this huge motorcycle brags a very aggressive road presence, the elegant lines of the much sleeker front end offer a glimpse of what this bike is capable of. Considering the design of the bike, it is very obvious that one can not find anything similar to this on the road.

The ride quality on offer is brilliant and the bike feels very light to filter in the city, thanks to the presence of double-wishbone front suspension. The suspension setup might seem common to car guys but it is important to note that this setup can be rarely found in any motorcycle. Even though the bike looks huge but when it gets going, it is very easy to control the bike and is very nimble while switching lanes. 

The comfort on offer is next-level, thanks to the sofa king of seats that Honda has given. In addition to that, the bike is very much stable at high speeds and there’s no windblast on offer, thanks to the huge windscreen. Depending upon the road conditions, the rear mono-shock suspension can be electronically adjusted. 

As soon as you turn the ignition on, the flat-six engine roars to life.  It's so stunningly vibration-free that you will not be able to make out if the engine is running or not. It comes equipped with a 24 valve SOHC liquid-cooled 1800 cc engine which is capable of churning out 125 hp of maximum power at just 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 171 Nm at 4,500 rpm. 

The power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT). There are various automatic bikes that you can get in the market but this one comes with a reverse gear as well. The power delivery is very smooth and this bike can easily cruise at triple-digit speeds. It comes loaded with a 21 L fuel tank, which is decent enough.

When it comes to braking, it must come with robust brakes, considering the huge size and power output of the bike. The Honda Gold Wing comes equipped with a single 316 mm disc in the rear that comes with a three-piston caliper and a dual 320 mm disc at the front with twin radially-mounted six-piston calipers setup. 

The list does not end here, the braking performance is further enhanced with an Anti-lock braking system (ABS) that makes sure that the wheels do not lock up during sudden braking.

Honda Gold Wing is one of a king and it is very rare to encounter similar motorcycles on the roads of the Philippines. It comes with an incredible suite of standard features and gets various segment-first features that make it a very special bike. 

It is a perfect bike for touring as it has everything one would ever need while doing long rides. The fuel tank capacity could have been better so that one could get a more reliable tank range.
