Indian Scout Bobber Sixty

The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty might be a toned-down version of the Scout Sixty. However, that doesn’t make it low quality, smaller and less premium motorcycle by any standards. It looks like a proper litre class motorcycle from every angle and has loads of road presence despite minimalist panels.

The front profile of the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty is retained from the Scout Sixty, as it also gets a simple-looking rounded headlamp within a blacked-out hemispherical housing. However, there are two minor changes over the Scout Sixty here – while the rounded orange turn indicators get blacked-out housings instead of chrome ones, the front fender is a chopped unit here instead of a long and curved unit of the Scout Sixty.

The side profile of the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty retains the majority of the design of the Scout Sixty, as it gets the same long and curved fuel tank that slopes down to the V-shaped single-piece seat. Even the overall layout of the blacked-out engine and vertically stacked exhaust pipes on the right side has been retained from the Scout Sixty. However, here, the exhaust pipes are finished in the same black theme as that of the engine, and not the chrome ones as in the Scout Sixty. While the motorcycle comes with a single-piece seat as standard, you can go for the optional pillion seat by paying a slight premium. The biggest change here happens to be a different set of tyres, which are not as fat as bobber-like rubbers on the Scout Sixty. 

At the back, the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty gets a chopped style fender above the rear tyre, which is flanked with rounded turn indicators. While the tail lamp is integrated with the turn indicators only, the license plate is repositioned on the left-hand side of the motorcycle. Here too, the housings for the turn indicators are blacked out instead of chrome.

The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty gets a more bobber-like short handlebar and not the hugely curved one on the Scout Sixty. Here, the brake levers and rearview mirrors are finished in black, however, the single pod instrument console has been lifted off from the Scout Sixty. The console gets an analog speedometer and a small LCD screen that reads out the tachometer, odometer, trip meters, and other data.

It is not the engine that is the only mechanical part shared with the Scout Sixty. The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty gets the same 41 mm telescopic forks with 120 mm travel at the front and an adjustable mono-shock with 76 mm travel at the rear, a combination which is there in the Scout Sixty as well. Even the brakes are no different, with single 298mm discs at both ends. However, the tyres are a lot different here, with the 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels getting slimmer Pirelli Night Dragon tyres.

Apart from the basic design, the engine of the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty is the same as that of the Scout Sixty cruiser. The 1,000cc 60 cubic-inches, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine sees no change in its performance outputs for the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty, and here also, it pumps out 78 bhp of maximum power and 88 Nm of maximum torque. Even the 6-speed gearbox has been shared with no changes to its gear ratios. 

Except for the presence of a dual-channel ABS, there is no other modern safety riding aid present in the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty, which might come across as a disappointment to some of the riders.

Despite being more or less based on the Scout Sixty, the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty maintains an old-school bobber appeal which is totally different from that of the latter. The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty feels friendlier to ride with easier ergonomics and an equally punchy engine, which makes it a great big-capacity motorcycle to ride in urban environments.
