Kawasaki KX 250X

The minimal and focused design of the Kawasaki KX250X instantly makes you realize that this motorcycle is designed and built specifically for a purpose. This functional-looking motocross bike misses out on many contemporary elements to keep the weight in check. 

The fascia of the Kawasaki KX250X has a traditional trapezoidal-shaped cowl with tapered edges and creases at the bottom. The KX250X features a high-mounted front fender, which looks huge and adds visual bulk to it. The front telescopic fork of the Kawasaki KX250X features a golden finish in its upper half. 

The Kawasaki KX250X has minimal body panels on the sides, which include the slim panels around the tiny fuel tank and the seat. The panels around the fuel tank have bold graphics, which also partially cover the upper half of the engine and the aluminium frame of the motorcycle. The Kawasaki KX250X also has a long and functional seat which has a lime green panel below it that further adds more visual mass to the motorcycle. This body panel flows towards the rear in a pointy fashion, while also covering the side-mounted heightened exhaust pipe.

The Kawasaki KX250X has no functional tail lamp assembly and turn indicators, which makes it a motorcycle strictly for riding in closed peripheries and not out on the open roads. To make the motorcycle look purposeful, Kawasaki has equipped it with aluminium spoke wheels and knobby tyres, just like in every other KX series of motocross bikes. The KX250X also gets aluminium levers and an electric starter switch on the handlebar as standard.

The real essence of the Kawasaki KX250X lies in its hardcore suspension setup, which has been engineered to take on the worst of beatings of off-road trails with absolute ease. The KX250X gets 48mm inverted telescopic forks with adjustable compression and rebound damping and 314mm travel at the front. On the other end, for the rear wheel, the KX250X gets New Uni Trak with adjustable dual-range compression damping, adjustable rebound damping and adjustable preload with 316mm travel.

With their long travel and sturdiness, the suspension setup of the Kawasaki KX250X makes it an effortless motorcycle for rougher terrains with limited traction. More off-road worthiness comes from the 21-inch front wheel with an 80/100-21 tyre and a 19-inch rear wheel with a 110/90-19 tyre, both of which have large tread blocks suitable for off-road riding. The Kawasaki KX250X has a high ground clearance of 345mm and a light kerb weight of 108 kg. However, the 960mm seat height of the KX250X can be an issue for shorter riders, as the ground clearance also is quite high. A 240mm front petal disc brake and a 215mm rear petal disc brake perform the braking duties in the KX250X.

The Kawasaki KX250X comes with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 249cc engine, which is paired with a 5-speed transmission. This high-revving engine produces 41 PS of maximum power and 25.4 Nm of peak torque output, with it having much of its powerband lying in the higher RPM range.

To save weight, the Kawasaki KX250X skips out on many crucial safety features. However, to absorb shocks while riding over off-road surfaces, the KX250X is equipped with a factory-style 28.6mm Renthal aluminium Fatbar in the middle of the handlebar.

While the Kawasaki KX250X might not be an ideal motorcycle for daily urban riding conditions, the motorcycle impresses highly with its hardcore suspension setup, tyres and explosive performance from the high-revving 250cc engine.
