Kymco AK550

The Kymco AK550 has been offered a very unique design that makes it stand out among its competitors due to its design and size. The design is very impressive and its styling doesn't follow the approach or design appeal of other common scooters. The Kymco AK550 has been offered a very aggressive design that escapes the ordinary design approach of scooters in its segment. 

The front part has been offered with a set of twin angular headlamps that are flanked by LED running lights and mounted indicators on the side panels. Right above these lighting features, there is this huge adjustable and vented windshield that is among its notable features. On the sideways, the scooter has been designed with sharp edges and creases with a lowered front end that leaves an impression of a purpose built-sports bike.

The Kymco AK550 has a weight that will exceed your expectations that is 230kgs but then Kymco AK550 has balanced the weight and power ratio very perfectly. This maxi-scooter by Kymco features an aluminium chassis with 43 mm USD forks on the front portion and a horizontal trailing arm on the rear. Moreover, the suspension has been perfectly balanced that becomes applicable on bad roads or uneven surfaces.

The credit to the weight low down with unsprung weight goes to the proper swing arm that makes it easy to maneuver around effortlessly. Overall, the ride and handling are very smooth and tend to offer a great riding experience to both the rider and its pillion.

The Kymco AK550 has been offered with an eight-valve DOHC engine that is liquid-cooled, parallel-twined at the same time. This 550cc engine churns out a power output of 53 hp at 7,500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. Moreover, the engine has been mated to a CVT automatic transmission gearbox and has been offered with two different drive modes that are full power and rain mode. 

The throttle response is outstanding and full of energy which is a rare sight to be seen in this segment with a linear power curve and manageable power mode. In terms of performance and top speed, the scooter has the ability to speed up to 140 kmph and above.

In terms of braking and safety, the Kymco AK550 has been offered with exceptional braking features that is 270mm floating disc setup on the front and a single 260 mm disc in the rear. These brakes are clamped by Brembo calipers and aided by a twin-channel ABS system from Bosch. Moreover, the setup is amazing and makes it easy to manage the vehicle and the credit to that goes to the ABS setup. 

Some of the other safety features include a pass switch, side reflectors, and various road riding modes to ensure complete safety. Engine check warning is one of its major security features that has been included for the convenience of the rider.

The Kymco AK550 has been constant as a quality product in the Philippine market. In Fact, it is difficult to differentiate between Kymco AK550 and a more established Japanese brand scooter when viewed from a distance. However, as a scooter, it is really an accomplished one and currently rules the scooter market. 

The overall finishing has few errors and a few materials missing and it could have done better in that aspect. But Kymco has completely established itself in the scooter market and is highly competent in the Philippine market at the same time.
