Kymco Kargador 150 Review

Kymco Kargador 150 Overview
The Kymco Kargador 150 is an entry-level bare-basic commuter, which is aimed at those who want the simplicity, ease of ownership and low maintenance and running costs of a 100-125cc commuter, but with a bit more power. The Kymco Kargador 150 is available in a single variant in the Philippines two-wheeler market, which is offered in three colour options - black, grey and red.

Kymco Kargador 150 Design
The Kymco Kargador 150 is designed purely with the intent of a bare-basic commuter motorcycle, which can perform commuting duties from point A to point B without much fuss. This simplicity is evident in the way it looks, which is boring but functional for a motorcycle of its type.
At the front, the Kymco Kargador 150 has a rounded headlamp, which is surrounded by a small curvy body-coloured visor that has a tinted finish at the top. This halogen headlamp looks functional, and so are the amber-coloured turn indicators flanking the headlamp cowl. The front fender looks simple too and is bulged from the front, thus making it look bigger when viewed head-on. The rubber gaiters around the front forks are another trait that gives it a functional look.
Come to the side profile, and the Kymco Kargador 150 carries forward its simplistic appeal for the body panels (or the lack of them). The motorcycle has a regular-looking fuel tank with curved edges and a large trapezoidal body cowl, both of which come with nice-looking body decals on them. The basic-looking engine and the long exhaust pipe with chrome shield are given an all-black theme, while the spoke wheels of the motorcycle have a conventional silver finish to them. The long single-piece seat of the Kymco Kargador 150 looks cheap and functional but serves its purpose of accommodating two people very easily.
Towards the rear, the Kymco Kargador 150 starts feeling even more basic due to the lack of proper side body panels below the seat. At the back, the motorcycle has a large tubular grab rail, which also serves the functionality of a small luggage carrier. Just below the rear extensions of this grab rail, there is a very utilitarian-looking rectangular tail lamp, which is flanked with amber-coloured turn indicators. All these lights are mounted on the blacked-out curved rear fender.
The most appealing bit of the Kymco Kargador 150 has to be its instrument console, which despite the basic appeal of the rest of the motorcycle and in its design, is quite informative. The all-analogue twin-pod unit packs in a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter and fuel gauge, in addition to a small digital gear indicator in the pod housing the tachometer.

Kymco Kargador 150 Ride & Handling
Talking about the suspension setup of the Kymco Kargador 150, while there is a pair of conventional hydraulic telescopic forks at the front, the rear has dual 5-step adjustable coil springs on both sides. The presence of four coil springs at the back makes the Kymco Kargador 150 a very durable motorcycle, which can take on the worst of the roads, rough patches and loads very easily. The Kymco Kargador 150 has a braking combination of drum brakes on either end, while the 3.00-17 tyre on both ends gives it enough grip which is required.
-
Kymco Kargador 150 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Kymco Kargador 150 gets a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, air-cooled, carbureted, 149.9cc engine, which like the rest of the design of the motorcycle, is very basic. This engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox and pumps out a maximum power output of 11.3 PS and a torque output of 12.2 Nm. For a motorcycle that carries a very small premium over other 100-125cc commuters, these figures are quite impressive.
-
Kymco Kargador 150 Braking & Safety
The Kymco Kargador 150 is a utilitarian commuter, which is built to a cost. Therefore, it lacks many safety features which have become a common norm in motorcycles.
-
Kymco Kargador 150 Verdict
The Kymco Kargador 150 might not feel like a motorcycle that you should instantly consider, as it lacks features and the mechanicals too are very basic in their architecture and also when compared to the competition. However, the durable suspension and added power and torque from the bigger 150cc engine, at a price of 100-125cc motorcycle, are a couple of traits of the Kymco Kargador 150 which are hard to ignore.
