Kymco Like 125 Italia

The Kymco Like 125 tries to position itself as a style statement on two wheels, for a good focus on a retro theme for the overall design and persona it carries on itself. The curved body panels have been designed in such a way that they beautifully hide the modern mechanicals under the skin.

The front of the Kymco Like 125 has been made to look cute and tall at the same time, thanks to the large transparent windshield mounted just above the handlebar. The handlebar has got the conventional positioning of the round headlamp, which looks nice with its slanted placement and chrome garnishing around it. The bar end weights and levers are finished in chrome as well to go with the theme.

The front apron looks curvy but has got a slanted design, which features a vertically stretched U-shaped appliqué, which gets chrome bordering and ends up with a round design element at its bottom. There are V-shaped clear lens turn indicators placed in the middle of the outer edge of the front apron.

The large and slightly rounded side body panels with their bulging out theme make the Kymco Like 125 look wide and big. The scooter features nice and premium looking contrast brown colored seats and floorboards. The large seat ends up in a rather monotonous looking tubular pillion grab rail, which could have looked a bit nicer than what it is.

The Kymco Like 125 gets a minimalist tail lamp cluster, and here too, the clear lens turn indicators grace their presence. The scooter comes with five-spoke alloy wheels and a long tubular exhaust pipe, both of which are finished in gunmetal grey finish.

The instrument console of the scooter too is a simple affair with analog dials for speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. To add even more retro style theme to the scooter, Kymco has equipped it with round shaped and chrome finished rear view mirrors. The front apron of the scooter features a lockable front compartment and a 12V charging socket.

For its segment, the Kymco Like 125 is equipped with a great chassis and suspension setup, with the latter being a combination of telescopic forks at the front and double swing suspension at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels shod with meaty 120/70 tyre at the front and 130/70 tyre at the rear. For a 125cc scooter, these tyres are fat enough to give the rider a good amount of grip on the tarmac. Also on offer are disc brakes at both front and rear.

The Kymco Like 125 has been bestowed with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted, 124.6cc engine. The engine, which here gets coupled to a conventional V-belt transmission, is capable of putting up 9.5 PS of power and 9.5 Nm of torque, making it adequately a punchy motor to make your urban commutes effortless. The 6 litres of fuel tank also gives it a best in class tank range.

Given that the Kymco Like 125 targets to cost-conscious entry-level segment buyers and has a not so big and powerful powertrain, it is devoid of even basic of the safety features.

The Kymco Like 125 has the ability to attract a chunk of buyers towards itself just on the basis of the cutesy retro theme of the design it wears. The comfortable suspension, seat, and handling do combine to make up for a very easy riding experience in the urban periphery. However, we do wish that it was equipped with few more modern features, but then, it complies well with the retro theme.
