Kymco Super 8 150

Kymco has designed the Super 8 150 in a very simple and fuss-free manner, which makes the scooter look a bit generic. The Kymco Super 8 150 is not a head-turner, but it isn’t too boring to look at, and that’s all down due to the funky dual-tone colour options.

At the front, the Kymco Super 8 150 comes with a large V-shaped headlamp, which covers more than half of the area of the front apron. This headlamp cluster comes integrated with a dual halogen headlamp setup. The upper edges of the headlamp cluster come with a silver garnish spread over the side edges of the front apron. On the other hand, the clear lens turn indicators are integrated within the side extensions of the front apron which flow towards the floorboard. The handlebar cowl looks a bit simple but has a nice dual-tone finish to it.

The side edges of the front apron look a bit bulged while flowing towards the compact floorboard and come with a pair of simple-looking decals on it. Even the lower part of the floorboard of this scooter has a bulged design, which creates an impression of this being a not-so-flimsy scooter. Towards the rear, the Kymco Super 8 150 gets slim side body panels, which have a sharp crease flowing in the middle of it. The scooter also gets multi-spoke alloy wheels, engine and an airbox finished in a theme of black.

At the rear, the Kymco Super 8 150 comes with a large grab rail with a luggage holder at its rearmost tip. The tail lamp cluster of the scooter looks functional, with an all-halogen setup for the tail light and turn indicators, all of which are integrated into a single setup.

Rounding off the functional look of the Kymco Super 8 150 is its generic all-analogue instrument console. While the scooters of its segment are moving towards having digital screens in their instrument consoles, the Kymco Super 8 150 still comes with an all-analogue setup comprising a speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge.

While the performance figures of the Kymco Super 8 150 might not excite some looking out for a 150cc scooter, it manages to balance it out with its nice chassis setup. With a pair of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and four-step adjustable dual hydraulic shock absorbers, the Kymco Super 8 150 has a slightly stiffer ride quality for fine handling. Aiding in its agility are the 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped over with 120/70-14 tyre at the front and 120/80-14 tyre at the rear.

The Kymco Super 8 150 sources its power from a four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 149.4cc engine. Paired with a CVT gearbox, this engine is decently refined and produces 10.3 PS of maximum power and 10.6 Nm of maximum torque. While these figures might look underwhelming for a 150cc engine, considering that this engine belongs to a scooter that is priced similarly to some 125cc scooters, it does get a performance advantage over them.

Considering that the Kymco Super 8 150 is available as a no-frills budget scooter, it skips out on several modern safety features. However, it comes with a decent amount of lockable storage compartment below its seat.

The Kymco Super 8 150 might not be a feature-rich or flashy-looking scooter by modern standards. However, for its price point, the Super 8 150 has a good value for money quotient with its decent performance and handling characteristics. It is a decent offering for those who want a functional scooter with the added performance of a bigger engine over a 100cc scooter.
