NWOW Golden Butterfly Overview
The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 is one of the cheapest and smallest electric two-wheelers one can buy in the Philippines right now. Priced at PHP 25,000, this electric moped is purely designed and engineered for the basic purpose of short commutes from point A to point B in the city. The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 has been made available in the Philippines in a single variant, which is being offered in five different colour options of black, purple, light blue, red and yellow.

NWOW Golden Butterfly Design
From the first glance of it, the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 feels cheap and built to cost, which it actually is. It is not a truly well-finished product and has below-average fit and finish levels, which clearly signifies the fact that the electric moped is truly built to a cost. This is not a looker and feels like a basic attempt of several off-looking parts put together.
The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 has a very basic design, with a front end having a small V-shaped headlamp cluster positioned on the handlebar. The entire cluster includes the main headlamp and clear lens turn indicators within itself. Just below this main headlamp cluster, there is a large plastic basket mounted on the curved and vertical front apron, which is wrapped around the tubular part of the frame at the front.
The curved and vertical front apron flows down towards the small floorboard. The basic design of the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 continues on the sides as well, with the floorboard extending till the large central panel below the seat. The sides of this central panel have pedals mounted on them, and just above this central panel, there is a wraparound tubular panel above which the main battery has been placed. The exposed look of the battery makes the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 half-hearted in terms of fit and finish.
Just above the battery, the main rider’s seat is mounted, behind which there is a T-shaped clamp that serves as the holding panel for the pillion rider. For the pillion rider, there is a small and flat seat above a cuboidal panel, which hides an electric motor beneath it. The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 gets small machined-finish alloy wheels that get slim profile tyres over them. At the back of the pillion seat, there is a tubular backrest with a small cushion on it.
The tiny instrument console of the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 is another bit of the electric moped which makes you believe that it is a built-to-cost vehicle. It just has a very basic-looking speedometer, odometer, and low battery indicator.

NWOW Golden Butterfly Ride & Handling
The very basic mechanical setup of the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 comprises thin conventional hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a single soil spring at the rear. Despite its extremely minimalist and basic design, the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 weighs almost 120 kg, which makes it heavier even than some of the conventional petrol-powered scooters out there.
-
NWOW Golden Butterfly Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 gets its thrust from a puny 0.4 kW electric motor, which is as low on power in the real world, as it seems on the paper. The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 is capable of hitting a top speed of 45 kmph from this 0.4 kW motor, and that too takes a lot of time to hit. The scooter comes with a small 0.58 kWh battery, which in its full capacity, returns a maximum riding range of 70 km. This small range and basic utilitarian size and styling of the Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 make it fit only for short city commutes.
-
NWOW Golden Butterfly Braking & Safety
The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 lacks a lot of features to keep the costs in check, and that effect has been carried out for the list of safety features too. It absolutely gets none of the modern features on board.
-
NWOW Golden Butterfly Verdict
The Nwow Golden Butterfly 2 might not be the most desirable two-wheeler out there. However, for its purpose of very short commutes, it is one decently made vehicle. The low-speed ride and range are pretty decent for a cheap vehicle of its price.
