Skygo Duke Review

Skygo Duke Overview
The Skygo Duke is the most affordable step-through underbone bike available from the Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer Skygo and is also one of the most affordable two-wheelers currently available in the Philippines two-wheeler market. This underbone motorcycle takes on the heavy-weight Japanese underbone bikes with its much more affordable pricing and street-smart looks. The Skygo Duke is available in three shades of black, red, and blue.

Skygo Duke Design
The Skygo Duke is one of the most affordable two-wheelers currently available in the country, however, it doesn’t make it the most boring to look at at the same time. For an underbone bike, the Skygo Duke has a decent-looking design that has various sharp and modern-looking elements to make it stand out from the crowd.
The best angle to look at the Skygo Duke is the front, with the sleek-looking underbone bike getting a large aggressive-looking headlamp encased in a nice-looking handlebar cowl. The sleek front apron looks sleek as well, with angular-shaped and pointy-looking side extensions integrated with L-shaped lighting assemblies, which house small daytime running LEDs and clear lens turn indicators. The beak-shaped front fender gives a pointy-looking appeal to the front profile.
From the sides, the Skygo Duke looks decently sporty, with the large apron at the front wide enough to hide your knees and legs while riding. The slim-looking side body panels are well garnished with decent-looking stickers, which add a bit of youthfulness to the design. While the Skygo Duke gets cost-effective spoke wheels, the engine has been painted in a theme of glossy black. Towards the rear, the shock absorbers get a sporty-looking red finish, while the exhaust pipe also gets a chrome hat over it.
The long single-piece seat and inclined side body panels end up in an angular-looking tail section, which has a wide tail lamp cluster as the main highlight here. This cluster comes integrated with clear lens turn indicators besides the centrally placed main tail lamp. A large black-coloured pillion grab rail and long-tail fender round up the look of the Duke at the rear.
The Skygo Duke gets a very small instrument console, which accommodates two rounded pods, with one each for the speedometer and fuel gauge. The housing for the speedometer also gets an analogue odometer. The overall quality levels of the body panels and switchgear feel a tad too basic, which was expected, considering the extremely low price of the underbone bike.

Skygo Duke Ride & Handling
The affordable product positioning of the Skygo Duke makes us realize more about how basic the other mechanicals of the bike is. The Duke comes with entry-level hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and double-sided coil springs at the rear. The overall ride quality is not something that can be termed as plush, but it does the job of keeping the rider in comfort for short urban trips. The Skygo Duke gets tall 17-inch spoke wheels which come with slim profile tyres. For an entry-level product, the inclusion of a disc brake at the front comes as a welcoming surprise, while the rear comes with a drum brake.
-
Skygo Duke Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the Skygo Duke is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 107cc engine, which produces a maximum power output of 6.1 bhp and a peak torque output of 6.9 Nm. For a bike that weighs 100 kg, the power output of the Skygo Duke feels sub-par and doesn’t give it a peppy nature which one might expect from a 110cc bike. The 4-speed gearbox too feels clunky while in use.
-
Skygo Duke Braking & Safety
The Skygo Duke comes with a single safety feature of a lockable ignition keyhole, which prevents the bike to start with any other duplicate key. Apart from this, there are no other safety features in the Duke.
-
Skygo Duke Verdict
For its price, the Skygo Duke comes across as a decent offering with a couple of nice features which add to its limited novelty. While the engine and suspension offer a lower-than-expected feel, they do the job of basic commuting pretty effortlessly.
