Suzuki Gixxer FI

With a well-sculpted body, engaging graphics, wide tyres, and much more, the Suzuki Gixxer is a good looking as well as a comfortable motorcycle. The bike gets a triangular headlamp, easily visible turn indicators, centre-set footpegs, large rearview mirrors, and a stylish dual-tone dual-barrel exhaust outlet. Then there is a fully-digital instrument cluster with tachometer, speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, and two trip meters. The seat on the Gixxer is a single-piece unit, and while it may not look at striking as the two-piece units of the Yamaha FZi and the Kawasaki Rouser NS160, it certainly offers more space and comfort to both rider and pillion. As for the handlebar, it is also a single-piece unit and is perfectly positioned for a fatigue-free ride. Customers can have the Suzuki Gixxer in either Red or Black finish.

Thanks to the manageable seat height of 780 mm and low overall weight of 135 kg, the Suzuki Gixxer becomes very easy and fun to ride a motorcycle. Moreover, the finely-tuned telescopic forks at the front and the mono-shock at the rear further enhance the ride quality. Since the seat on the Suzuki Gixxer is a single-piece unit, it is very comfortable and contributes well to the pleasant ride quality for both rider and pillion. Furthermore, the streetfighter rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, which wear 100/80 and 140/60 size tyres at the front and the rear, respectively.

The engine & performance department is where the Suzuki Gixxer sets the stakes high. The Japanese streetfighter comes housing a 154.9cc single-cylinder two-valve fuel-injected air-cooled four-stroke engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 13.95 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Even though it's not the most powerful mill out there in the segment, the 154.9cc unit on the Suzuki Gixxer is super-refined and offers great power delivery. It is then a smooth-operating five-speed gearbox that sends the power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. 

Unlike the other streetfighters in the segment, the Suzuki Gixxer features disc brakes at both front and rear. Its top rivals, the Yamaha FZi and the Kawasaki Rouser NS 160, both of them come with a single front disc brake and feature a drum brake at the rear. While the braking performance on the Suzuki Gixxer is good enough, it is not the sharpest and might feel a bit spongy on occasions. Moreover, the lack of ABS may further let the potential buyers and riders down, and Suzuki should at least start offering a single-channel ABS unit on the Gixxer.

At Php 91,900, the Suzuki Gixxer is a bang for the buck offering by the Japanese automaker. With comfortable ergonomics, refined powertrain, and easy manoeuvrability, the Suzuki Gixxer will make for a great fun to ride streetfighter as well as an office commuter without any hassle. The Suzuki Gixxer rivals the Yamaha FZi and the Kawasaki Rouser NS160 and remains to be the most affordable among the three streetfighters. Nonetheless, if you crave more power, then you might want to try out the Kawasaki Rouser NS160 before making your final decision. The Yamaha FZi, on the other hand, boasts similar power figures but a much higher price tag.
