Yamaha FZi

The Yamaha FZi set up a benchmark in the revolution of 150cc category motorcycles with its extraordinary design since 2008. Yamaha manufacturers have set up a very unique standard when it comes to the design of FZi which has been incorporated with beefy forks, muscular fuel tanks, and meaty tires on the front end. 

The major facelift in Yamaha FZi turned out to be an evolved version of its previous model with renovated design of its body panel.  with a triangular headlamp covered with panels that make it look huge in comparison to its previous model. 

The muscular fuel tank has gone through a recent modification that makes it look sleek and is supported by the same knee contours and design theme. The Yamaha FZi restores its novelty factor in the motorcycle segment with a more aggressive and leaner body appeal. 

The Yamaha automakers haven't changed the ride and handling aspect in this model. The motorcycle has been offered the same 41mm telescopic forks on the front part and mono-shock on the rear that provides directional stability to the rider. The ride and handling of the Yamaha FZi are beautiful and impressive just like the previous generation FZ. 

The meatier tires on both ends provide stable and flexible handling in both corners and straight-line on any kind of road. The overall riding quality delivers a majestic feel and hits the right spot in between the lavish feel and stiffness making it the best commuter to ride on in urban conditions.

The Yamaha FZi has left a huge impact on the segment of entry-level commuting motorcycles. The size of the engine has been reduced to 149cc which is like a setback in comparison to its previous engine that debuted with 153cc. The four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled 149cc engine delivers power delivery to offer smoother performance. 

This engine churns out a power output of 13.1 PS and peak torque of 12.8 Nm are the numbers in this category. Even after the reduction in its engine size, the Yamaha FZi doesn't feel underpowered as the power is well distributed across the rev range.

The Yamaha FZi has the same traditional braking setup as that of its previous generation FZ. The traditional braking setup is a clear indication of the huge size of the disc brake that is 276mm on the front and a more conventional 130mm drum brake on the rear just like FZ. The size of these brakes being similar to that of FZ is like a drawback for FZi but it still manages to get the job done right.

The braking experience as a whole is good and appreciable considering the premium positioning of the FZi. The premium position of FZi is sure to have a rear disc brake which is a mandatory feature in this motorcycle.

The Yamaha FZ was the first one to begin the trend of 150cc motorcycles and this is their second generation in the form of FZi. The Yamaha FZi can be termed as a minor setback for Yamaha based on performance as well as aesthetics. The Fi is sharp and edgy in terms of appeal but lacks a beefy stance like that of its previous model. 

The engine capacity has also been reduced in size that has led to a setback in its character but it has focused more on the aspect of fuel efficiency and that is remarkable. The engine vibrations are a bit less and the engine tends to be more responsive due to the addition of fuel injection technology. The Yamaha FZi shines in terms of ride and handling and the credit to this goes to the incredible chassis.
