Yamaha FZi Latest Updates
The Yamaha FZi is sold in the 2021 model year version in the Philippines. It’s the first fuel-injected motorcycle in the street bike category. The bike recently got several updates. The FZi is hauled by an air-cooled, 4-stroke 149cc engine which produces 13 PS maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 13 Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Major features of the bike include 17-inch alloy wheels, pass switch, front-wheel disc brake, dual support seats, chrome garnish, engine check warning, and street and road riding modes. Available in a single variant, the Yamaha FZi is priced at ₱99,800.

The Yamaha FZi has left a huge impact on the segment of entry-level commuting motorcycles. The size of the engine has been reduced to 149cc which is like a setback in comparison to its previous engine that debuted with 153cc. The four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled 149cc engine delivers power delivery to offer smoother performance.
This engine churns out a power output of 13.1 PS and peak torque of 12.8 Nm are the numbers in this category. Even after the reduction in its engine size, the Yamaha FZi doesn't feel underpowered as the power is well distributed across the rev range.

The Yamaha FZi has the same traditional braking setup as that of its previous generation FZ. The traditional braking setup is a clear indication of the huge size of the disc brake that is 276mm on the front and a more conventional 130mm drum brake on the rear just like FZ. The size of these brakes being similar to that of FZ is like a drawback for FZi but it still manages to get the job done right.
The braking experience as a whole is good and appreciable considering the premium positioning of the FZi. The premium position of FZi is sure to have a rear disc brake which is a mandatory feature in this motorcycle.

The Yamaha FZ was the first one to begin the trend of 150cc motorcycles and this is their second generation in the form of FZi. The Yamaha FZi can be termed as a minor setback for Yamaha based on performance as well as aesthetics. The Fi is sharp and edgy in terms of appeal but lacks a beefy stance like that of its previous model.
The engine capacity has also been reduced in size that has led to a setback in its character but it has focused more on the aspect of fuel efficiency and that is remarkable. The engine vibrations are a bit less and the engine tends to be more responsive due to the addition of fuel injection technology. The Yamaha FZi shines in terms of ride and handling and the credit to this goes to the incredible chassis.
