Yamaha Sniper 155 Overview
The Yamaha Sniper 155 is a hardcore underbone bike, which offers the practicality and ease of riding an underbone bike but with the added essence of sportiness in its visual appeal, performance and handling of a thoroughbred ‘YZF-R’ series supersport motorcycle from Yamaha. With its youthful looks, the Yamaha Sniper 155 is available in two iterations – Standard and R. While the Standard version of the Yamaha Sniper 155 can be had in three colour options Race Blue, Black Raven and Yellow Hornet, the R version is specifically available in a special shade of Matte Titan.

Yamaha Sniper 155 Design
The Yamaha Sniper 155 is one of the edgiest looking underbone bikes you can have for yourself, and if you are a fan or have admiration for the YZF-R series of Supersports from Yamaha, you will love the way the Sniper 155 looks in real.
At the front, the Yamaha Sniper 155 looks aggressive with its sharp-looking front fascia, which comprises angular headlamps on the slanted front fairing in the middle. The dual-LED headlamp set works for low beam setup and is assisted with boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs. In a first-of-its-kind feature, the Yamaha Sniper 155 has an additional LED headlamp on the handlebar cowl, which turns on only when you switch the high beam on.
The halogen but clear lens turn indicators are neatly integrated into the side extensions of the front fairing, which flow down towards the engine. These side panels also come integrated with an engine cowl and neatly hide the radiator for the powertrain. The engine as well as the five-spoke alloy wheels and exhaust pipe are finished in a theme of black, while the exhaust pipe has a silver-coloured tip at its back.
The side body panels of the Yamaha Sniper 155 neatly flow and fuse with the sleek-looking tailpiece of the bike. Above the tail section, the Yamaha Sniper 155 gets a sporty and cocooned setup for the single-piece seat, which looks very similar to that of the Mio Aerox 155. At the back, the Yamaha Sniper 155 gets an R1-inspired vertical LED tail lamp, while the large rear fender attached with clear lens turn indicators looks very much similar to that in the MT-15.
The premium essence of the Yamaha Sniper 155 is also visible in the rider’s cockpit of the bike, with it housing a compact fully-digital instrument console. This negative LCD console packs in a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, gear indicator and real-time riding data like instantaneous and average fuel economy figures. The R version of the Yamaha Sniper 155 also comes with a 12V power socket for charging your smartphones while on the go.

Yamaha Sniper 155 Ride & Handling
The Yamaha Sniper 155 feels like one of the most fun to ride underbone bikes and the credit for all that goes to the fine chassis it has under its skin. The suspension combination of telescopic forks at the front and a rectangular swingarm with link-type mono-shock at the back are finely tuned for a spirited riding experience. However, the stiff setup for the suspension can make you feel every bump and pothole. The Yamaha Sniper 155 gets a disc brake setup at both front and rear, while the R version of the bike has a 2-pot brake calliper for the front brake.
-
Yamaha Sniper 155 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Yamaha Sniper 155 gets the same familiar four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 2-valve, 155cc engine, which powers a host of other 155cc offerings from Yamaha like the YZF-R15, MT-15, XSR 155 and Mio Aerox 155. One of the best 150cc class engines in the world, this engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes with technologies like variable valve actuation and blue core for a fine balance of performance and fuel economy. In the Yamaha Sniper 155, this engine pumps out a maximum power output of 17.9 PS and a peak torque output of 14.4 Nm.
-
Yamaha Sniper 155 Braking & Safety
Apart from a dual-channel ABS, the Yamaha Sniper 155 also comes with an assist and slipper clutch, making it one of the very few underbone bikes to get this feature. In addition, the R version of the bike also has a keyless ignition system with an answering back function.
-
Yamaha Sniper 155 Verdict
The Yamaha Sniper 155 not only looks edgy and focused in its visual appeal, but also in the way it performs on the road. With excellent power delivery and handling, it is surely one underbone bike meant truly for riding enthusiasts.
