FAW 270R10

To make it feel a bit more special and premium as compared to the other two smaller 270 Series trucks, the interior cabin of the FAW 270R10 has been equipped with some additional features and minute design revisions. However, it is still far from being premium and top-class when compared to the rest of the trucks in the same league.

Here, the steering wheel is larger and so is the flat seats in the cabin, which make it feel a bigger and much better place to be in. The driver information system as well as additional storage spaces in the cabin do make it feel slightly better than the other two 270 Series trucks. All the controls and panels are well within the reach, which makes one believe that it is a well laid-out cabin. The cabin still is devoid of basic things including the air conditioner, which is a big miss.

Compared to the other 270 series of trucks, the FAW 270R10 gets a long body design and a larger front fascia, which definitely helps in giving it some strong road presence.

The frontal look of the FAW 270R10 has a large front windscreen, which covers most of its area. This windscreen, which has the same angular edges on all four points, gets a larger black colored panel above it, which accentuates its bigger size even more.

Another black colored panel graces the lower portion of the windscreen, which has got mounts for wiper blades, looks slightly less rounded, and much sleeker than on the other two trucks of the 270 Series, which enhances its width and simplicity even more. 

Beneath the front windscreen, the rest of the front fascia of the FAW 270R10 too has grown larger in size and styling. The large black colored grille with a horizontal slat as well as a large FAW logo in the middle and silver-finished panel above it has been shared with the mixer and tipper versions of the 270 Series. 

However, what is new here in the FAW 270R10 is the revised front bumper design, which is larger in size and makes its front look much bulkier and in your face. The vertically laid trapezoidal headlamps on the sides of the front bumper and large rectangular air dam in the middle make the front profile even bigger. 

The side profile of the FAW 270R10 too has been revised here, as compared to its two other smaller siblings. The angular and upswept window line is again the main characteristic element here, however, the wheel arch molding here is finished in white and not grey. 

The added weight of the deck at the back, as well as more powerful engine, have shot up the weight of the FAW 270R10. However, in addition, it gets additional leaf springs, which balance out the additional weight and helps in carrying the loads in a much better way.

The FAW 270R10 shares its 9.8-litre WP 10 series engine from the other two trucks of the 270 Series. However, here in the 270R10, the engine gets an intercooler in addition, which helps in bumping up the maximum power output – here it is rated at 365 PS. However, the torque is still rated at 1100 Nm, which is still very much enough for a truck of this size. which is a heavy-duty diesel engine known for good torque throughout the driving range. 

In the name of safety, the FAW 270R10 gets only a lockable cabin as well as height-adjustable seat belts.

The additional bump in power output, increase in cabin space, additional storage spaces in the cabin, and enhanced frontal styling do make the FAW 270R10 much more practical and desirable. However, it still misses out on a number of features that could have uplifted the overall desirability of the FAW 270R10 as a whole.
