Foton ETX-N

The Foton ETX-N might not be the most modern place to be in, with the smaller EST-M having a more up-to-date cabin in comparison. However, the cabin is designed in a good manner when it comes to ergonomics, with all controls being in the reach of the driver.

The driver’s cockpit of the Foton ETX-N feels functional and simple, with a traditional four-spoke tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and an analog instrument console placed behind it. The center console in the middle of the wide and curved dashboard houses various rectangular panels for 1-DIN audio system, AC controls, storage bins, and various switches.

From the outside, the Foton ETX-N has got a very simple and sober design, which looks functional but not at all dated, if not the absence of modern-day features like LED lights. The large and squared-out design of the Foton ETX-N from the front looks much familiar and not too out of the box and aggressive.

As in most of the full-size trucks available in the market right now, half of the front profile of the Foton ETX-N is covered entirely by a rectangular windshield, which gets rounded edges at both top and bottom. The whole front apron is covered by a massive looking blacked-out front grille, the appearance of which looks ever more bullish thanks to the wide three thick slats running across the grille one over the other. The uppermost slab in the grille sports the big and rounded Foton logo in the middle of it.

The front bumper of the Foton ETX-N looks plain and has a protruding out design, with pentagonal headlamps placed on its corners. The headlamps do come integrated with orange turn indicators in them. The side profile of the Foton ETX-N has a wide design for the single cab. Unlike smaller trucks, the Foton ETX-N misses out on side body cladding but does come with flared wheel arches to make sure it looks purposeful.

The side windows are quite large and have a slanting shoulder line. The vertically laid outer rearview mirrors are mounted on the A-pillars, with extra mirrors placed serving as reverse cameras. Also, the edge of the side wheel arches come mounted with turn indicators on them.

The large Foton ETX-N rides on a total of 10 wheels of 12.00-R22.5 specs and has a payload capacity of a whopping 49,000 kgs, which is indeed praiseworthy. There are very few trucks available in the market right now which could match the load-carrying capacity of the Foton ETX-N. In addition to it, the Foton ETX-N has a dump box capacity of 23 CBM.

The mammoth Foton ETX-N is powered by a well-deserving big ISGe4-400 inline six-cylinder, water-cooled, four-stroke, direct injection, turbocharged, intercooled, diesel engine, which displaces 11,800cc. With a maximum power output rated at 400 PS at 1,900 rpm, the engine of the Foton ETX-N is currently one of the most powerful powertrains for a full-size commercial heavy-duty truck.

The flagship Foton ETX-N has been armed with several modern safety essentials like ABS with EBD, collision mitigation system, anti-slip regulator, collapsible steering column, and strategically placed outer rearview mirrors functioning as reverse cameras.

The brilliant load-carrying capacity of the Foton ETX-N is alone enough to make it a hugely desirable heavy-duty truck to serve the purpose of those truck owners who want to have a vehicle with maximum possible load carrying capacity at all times. Though the engine is a bit on the noisier side, the sheer amount of power and torque makes it quite a performer.
