Foton Tornado M4.2C

In addition to the exterior design, even the entire cabin of the Foton Tornado M4.2C has been lifted off from the smaller Tornado M2.6C. The car-like layout of the dashboard, with a wide wing-like center console incorporating a modern touchscreen infotainment system, makes the cabin look very desirable and plush in comparison to other trucks.

Apart from that, the multi-functional tilt-adjustable steering wheel, along with an instrument console with chrome garnished dials make the driver’s cockpit look a pleasant place to be in. The center console impresses with its wide layout and apart from the infotainment system, it also houses manual controls for AC and a closed small storage bin. On both the sides of the wide center console, there are vertically laid AC vents, which thanks to their silver surrounds add a premium touch to the cabin.

The Foton Tornado M4.2C shares the common design language Foton has chosen for the entire Tornado range. While there is no doubt that this design looks bold and makes the truck look larger than what it is, the fact that it doesn’t differ from other Tornado series trucks curbs its individuality.

The Foton Tornado M4.2C has got a large rectangular windshield in the upper half of the front profile, which has got thick rounded edges and rubber covering all around it. The lower half of the front profile gets a huge grille with three trapezoidal slats placed one over the other, which manage to make the Foton Tornado M4.2C look quite aggressive. At the bottom, the edges of the grille come flanked with simple-looking but big trapezoidal headlamps. Even the front bumper of the Foton Tornado M4.2C looks quite striking with the presence of squared fog lamps on its corners and triangular air inserts in the center.

Both the side doors as well as A-pillars of the Foton Tornado M4.2C come hinged with one rearview mirror each on either sides. The lowered height of the Foton Tornado M4.2C negates the presence of steppers and additional cladding. The Foton Tornado M4.2C is powered by a bigger and more powerful 3,800cc Cummins ISF 2.8 four-cylinder, water-cooled, turbo intercooler diesel engine. With a maximum power output of 156 PS and a peak torque output of 500 Nm, the Foton Tornado M4.2C is one of the most powerful light-duty commercial trucks available right now. The engine is paired to a simple 6-speed manual gearbox.

The safety equipment list of the Foton Tornado M4.2C is quite rich for commercial vehicle standards, with the truck having reverse parking sensors, a reverse camera, and a full air brake system with ABS and EBD.

The additional safety features as well as a bump in performance and load-carrying capacity make the Foton Tornado M4.2C a much more worthy and capable load hauler over the smaller M2.6C and is worth the extra premium it commands.
