Hino XZU710L

Just like the exterior design of the Hino XZU 710L, the interior cabin too looks cheap and not so stylish. However, there are good signs of good ergonomics as well as thoughtfully styled storage spaces in the cabin, which at least make the cabin feel practical and purposeful.

The large steering wheel, as well as instrument console of the Hino XZU 710L, look very basic and old fashioned. The overall design of the dashboard too looks very basic, however, the center console, as well as co-passenger side of the dashboard, has an array of rectangular storage compartments and provisions which do help in storing a number of small things here and there.

The Hino XZU 710L looks quite sizeable for a light-duty truck, but the overall design of the truck is not too exciting and modern to the eyes. It serves the purpose of having a good road presence, but could have done with modern looking design elements.

The front look of the Hino XZU 710L is divided into two halves. The upper half of the front design here is covered majorly by the large windscreen which has been curved nicely while it goes upwards. At the lower edges of the windscreen, which are rounded in design, there are long rearview mirrors mounted on them, which have curved extensions that flow slightly further. 

The middle portion of the front profile is comprised of a simple and bland plastic apron, below which the lower portion is designed. The lower portion of the Hino XZU 710L has a large and wide H-shaped front grille, which has broad black plastic surroundings for it. The upper side of the front grille has a long vertical black garnished panel in addition, which extends all the way till the upper edges of the grille.

The grille here is flanked with a pair of trapezoidal shaped headlamp units, which look basic with their all halogen setup, even for the clear lens turn indicators which are assembled in the same. The basic appeal of the Hino XZU 710L is further strengthened by the unpainted black plastic bumper, which do have provision for fog lamps, which are otherwise absent here.

The side profile of the Hino XZU 710L looks simple and easy to the eyes, with a large side window panel having a tapering down the waistline. There are not side steps and wheel arch molding, which further make the side profile look more basic.

The durable chassis of the Hino XZU 710L is comprised of semi-elliptical leaf springs with double-acting shock absorbers at the front and semi-elliptical main and auxiliary leaf springs with double-acting shock absorbers at the rear. A hydraulic system for two leading shoes for front and rear serves as the service brake, while the parking brake is a mechanical internal expanding type on the transmission output shaft.

Powering the Hino XZU 710L is a 4.0-liter water-cooled inline-four diesel engine that has got an intercooler and has a maximum rotational speed of 3100 rpm. This engine, here, is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and churns out 150 PS of maximum power output and 420 Nm of peak torque output. The Hino XZU 710L can sprint with a top speed of a respectable 117 kmph.

The Hino XZU 710L is devoid of any major safety feature, for the basic appeal it carries for itself. Save for a lockable compartment and seat belts, there is no other thing in the Hino XZU 710L to talk about.

The very basic styling in and out as well as a very limited set of features do make the Hino XZU 710L feel very archaic. However, where the Hino XZU 710L really shines out is the way its mechanicals perform on the road, with an assurance of long term durability for the engine and other parts.
