Shacman X3000 Wing Van

While the exterior design of the Shacman X3000 Wing Van makes it look like a present-day truck, the interior cabin of the truck doesn’t create the same impression. The layout of the dashboard feels basic and dated, and the dull grey finish of the cabin doesn’t create any magic either.

The four-spoke steering wheel and a large instrument console present inside a simple-looking housing form a basic looking driver’s cockpit. The center console is fairly large and faces towards the driver while incorporating a 1-DIN audio system, AC switch panel and various other switches stacked vertically in the same order as they are mentioned here.

Thanks to its modern lines as well as large dimensions, the Shacman X3000 Wing Van is bestowed with a noteworthy road presence of a present-day truck and doesn’t seem to be lost in the crowd of conventional trucks. While there are not many differences between the Shacman X3000 Wing Van and the other heavy-duty trucks, the former does come with a couple of minor differentiating factors which give it its own identity.

The Shacman X3000 Wing Van manages to look mammoth when viewed head-on, with the truck having a tallish appearance. The large front windscreen of the truck has got curved edges on its lower corners and is curved from sides, thus giving it a wraparound look towards the A-pillar. The windscreen comes fitted with a large and rectangular covering bar above it. This bar finished in black, features integrated clear lens turn indicators on its corners.

Just below the front windscreen, the Shacman X3000 Wing Van’s front apron gets a wide grille placed on it. This trapezoidal grille gets tapered edges and gets two horizontal slats spread across it and a large rounded Shacman logo in the middle of it. The entire grille is finished with dual-tone surrounds which flow down towards the front bumper while emerging from the windshield.

Like all the trucks from Shacman, the front bumper of the Shacman X3000 Wing Van too gets headlamps mounted on its front bumpers. However, the design of the headlamps is quite different from that of the rest, with the units being vertically aligned trapezoidal units packing in projector bulbs, fog lamps and clear lens turn indicators. The middle portion of the front bumper gets the lower extensions of the front bumper too.

The side profile of the Shacman X3000 Wing Van consists of large window panels, which like the front windshield, gets black surrounds around them. The truck comes with vertically place body-coloured rearview mirrors, whose hinges are mounted on the upper and lower edges of the side window panels. The truck also gets body-coloured squared wheel arches, however, the door handles are finished in black.

With multi-leaf springs at both ends for suspension duties, the Shacman X3000 Wing Van has been fitted with MAN tech. 9.5t axle at the front and MAN tech. 2*16t 5.262 axle at the rear. The truck comes with air operated WAPRO braking technology to bring it to halt as and when needed.  

The Shacman X3000 Wing Van comes with an 11-litre four-stroke, inline six-cylinder diesel engine sourced from Cummins. The engine is mated to a 12-speed manual gearbox, which again is sourced from EATON, and makes 385 PS of maximum power and 1825 Nm of maximum torque.

With a safety features list of only height-adjustable seat belts, a lockable passenger cabin and ABS as standard, the Shacman X3000 Wing Van could have done with more features on offer.

The Shacman X3000 Wing Van impresses with its exterior visual appeal and the excellent workhorse its engine is. However, the truck feels pretty basic on the inside, with minimal features and a dated looking cabin making it lose its novelty.
