Suzuki Ciaz Review
-
Suzuki Ciaz Overview
The Suzuki Ciaz offers the best sample of sedan engineering from Suzuki across the globe, being positioned as the flagship sedan now post the discontinuation of Kizashi from its global lineup. In the Philippines, the Suzuki Ciaz is still available in its first-generation model, which is available with a standard petrol engine with two gearbox options each in a single variant, with four colour options on offer – Mineral Grey, Star Silver, Snow White, and Super Black.

Suzuki Ciaz Interior
The interior cabin of the Suzuki Ciaz isn’t as bland as the exterior, but at the same time, it isn’t too flashy either. The overall layout of the cabin looks simple and is practical, and the all-black leather upholstery makes it feel large and sporty.
The design for the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and the analog instrument cluster behind it looks very plain, and the MID with its black and white readouts don’t make it too modern either. There is a fine layer of contrasting silver which adds some character to the cabin.
At the centre of the cabin, there is a simple touchscreen audio system complete with Bluetooth compatibility but misses out on Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The Suzuki Ciaz sold here is complete with basic essentials like height adjustment for driver’s seat, rear AC vents, and electrically adjustable rearview mirrors, however, more features would have been appreciated.
However, there is no match for the space the Suzuki Ciaz offers in its segment, with class-leading legroom and knee room on offer.

Suzuki Ciaz Exterior
The Suzuki Ciaz might not have a very interesting and contemporary design, which now is more than half a decade old. However, what adds elegance to the Suzuki Ciaz is its sheer large dimensions, which make it look big and expensive.
At the front, the Suzuki Ciaz comes with a trapezoidal grille with rounded edges and four chrome slats within it, which is the only sign of elegance here. The sweptback headlamps do come with projector bulbs, however, modern LED elements would have been a better equipment.
Thanks to the long and best-in-class wheelbase, the Suzuki Ciaz looks very long for its class, and the presence of chrome finished door handles and shoulder line adds to the overall elegance. The design of the 15-inch alloy wheels, however, looks very plain for a sedan of this cadre.
The Suzuki Ciaz looks quite interesting from the rear, which is all due to sweptback tail lamps which are large in size, and with the rounded boot lid design, makes the car look wide and sporty. The inbuilt glass antenna in the rear windscreen is a nice and unique inclusion to the sedan.

Suzuki Ciaz Ride & Handling
The soft setup for the Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear make the Suzuki Ciaz a not so sure shot option for the driving enthusiasts. However, it surely has got a plush ride quality with nice absorption of bumps and potholes. The steering setup too is light weighted, but finely balanced for easy driving.

Suzuki Ciaz Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Suzuki Ciaz in the Philippines is available with a standard 1.4-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 93 PS of maximum power output and 130 Nm of peak torque output. The engine is available with both the options of a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes. The engine feels refined and is pretty efficient for a sedan too, but lacks the top-end poke when driven enthusiastically.
-
Suzuki Ciaz Braking & Safety
The safety equipment list of the Suzuki Ciaz is not a lengthy one, with the sedan getting just the basics like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with camera, and remote central locking.
-
Suzuki Ciaz Verdict
With lack of features and design which has turned a bit bland over the course of time, the Suzuki Ciaz might not feel an updated sedan. However, when it comes to core abilities like ride quality, engine refinement, and fuel economy, the Suzuki Ciaz works just fine, making it a very sensible option in the sedan segment.
